Some new wheels for bike which are centrelock.
Already have a selection of 6 bolt rotors inc Hope floating.
So....buy some centrelock to 6 bolt adapters or get new centrelock rotors?

center lock means you need 2 tools with you if you travel and remove rotors, I have a T tool on my multi tool. So for me 6 bolt is the winner.

The second tool in mikes pics are for hubs with 15mm axles as they need a larger lockring to clear the enlarged axle.
Standard QR axles use a standard cassette locking tool.
Although that 2nd pic shows a XTR centrelock rotor(which I have 2 of) and mine came with a normal lockring like in the 1st pic.
Mike I'm puzzled by your second picture. Sure a 15mm or 20mm thru hub needs the lockring which uses the Shimano BB tool, but that picture shows a standard QR axle which [i]should[/i] use the lockring in the upper picture.
Anyway, you're right, if you've got a 15mm front and QR rear then you need both tools, but they are commonly available ones (cassette tool and BB tool) so I've never had a problem when travelling.
I also think Centrelock is an inherently superior system, so if you've got the hubs for it, use it would be my recommendation!

Yes I know, I have two pairs of centrelock wheels, but your second picture shows the external one on a QR axle which is wrong. That's why I asked the question...

For the very few times I need to remove/re-fit rotors it's way quicker. Know what you mean about extra tools, but they don't weigh much.
6 bolt are a pain in the hoop - take way longer to fit/remove and tend to remove some knuckle skin while doing so.
Got a 50:50 mix of CL and 6B and I much prefer CL.

I agree with you about flying. The only damage I've sustained flying was a bent front rotor, so I now remove it. Means I do need to carry a BB tool (or borrow one at the other end) but I still prefer that to mucking about with those tiny rotor bolts...
not sure what you mean by know better, I'm taking a guess that it's an actual shimano hub so a valid combination.
Nothing stopping you using the bigger bb-tool-fit ring on a qr hub, it still fits and works, its just they are comedically overpriced as a spare from shimano and otherwise only come with front 15 or 20mm hubs. also note that you need a deeper cassette tool to clear the locknuts on rear certerlock hubs, i had to buy another one as the (park tools,no less) one i had was too shallow to engage in the lockring.
