I'm after a set of 26" hoops for trail / AM fun to replace a Hope XC / Mavic 721 set up. Reasonably light but I won't be XC racing on them so anything below 1900g is acceptable really. Something a bit interesting is preferable so i'm veering away from standard Hopes laced to Stans / Mavic. Crosstrails don't look different enough (& aren't v user friendly when I noodle a spoke) and discount Easton Havens are getting mixed (hub related) reviews in uk weather. What's left? Budget £300 - £350.

Must come in my oddball front QR / rear 142x12 set up. Funny rims a bonus. Funny answers also accepted.

Assume you have the ex721 combo?

I'm dropping down to the xm719 combo but with gold hubs. Enough weight saving to be good and gold hubs

I've been pondering over these for a week.

Yes, EX721. They've done 2 Megas as well as a couple of winters and are rather past their best. You literally can't go wrong with gold hubs.

Good call re: Superstars. I will if you will.....?

Don't be tempted by Crank Brothers, look great but need a lot of TLC.
I have Mavic Crossmax SL and love them. Look great!

Just ordered myself a Velocity P35 on a Hope Hub for on the front of my SS, should get a really nice tyre profile with a 2.35 on it
