I’ve got a 2019 very good condition Spark RC 900 Pro and I’m wondering if it’s worth upgrading the stock DT alloy wheels for a set of carbon Hunts Proven Race?
Part of me thinks it’s a bike that’s getting on in age now (but very good nick) and I might be better just upgrading the bike in a year, but the other part thinks - it’s in great condition and suits my needs (only thing I don’t like is the press fit BB) so worth putting new wheels on it as an upgrade.
Thoughts from the STW would be welcome - The Hunts - a worthwhile upgrade or not?
I think you’d save 200g, rotating weight.
That’s a fair amount of money for something that’s not likely to be night and day IMO.
I’d put the money to something else if it were me.
Thanks chaps
Ah, thanks kryton, I was just about to point out the bargain price on silt xc’s at the moment but wasn’t sure if the weight of these vs the OPs stock wheels made it a worthwhile recommendation . Just got a pair of these myself and delighted. Good build, and feels way better on my epic EVO comp having lighter wheels.

Wheels are an upgrade you can swap onto a new bike if you decide to swap in a year or so.
Don't leave it too long though... Someone might come up with a new standard in the mean time.
I'd say going from ~2kg down to 1.6kg of the Silt wheels is a noticeable and worthwhile upgrade personally. You'd have to sped serious money to get anything lighter.
Slight thread hijack - how do you know what hub engagement you need on these choice is 36 tooth or 54 tooth....
Thanks!
