So I've managed to get a new Ford transit custom under the pretence that I need it for work (not for Alps trips!...).

It's un-lined, so what do people recommend I line the load space with? A ply kit from the internet? I saw some plastic kits that are supposedly tougher and more insulated-anyone with experience?

And any tips on insulation or sound-proofing? Thanks!

have used, dynamat, then 5 mm closed cell self adhesive foam, and will have the silver bubble wrap insulation stuff in the T4 as wanted it super quiet and warm.
Lineing am using veneered ply and a cabinet maker mate to cut and fit with lockers and other gubbins will all be varnished.
But if you want it cheapish and easy the bubble wrap stuff (diy store for rolls and then a ply kit with do can always carpet it as well if you feel the need. 😀

EDIT: I do realise I may have got a bit over excited with my insulation and sound deadening 😯

Plastic used here on a T4. Loft insulation or the silvery bubble wrap roof stuff behind it depending on space. Then lined with car carpet to make it neat. Sound not sure about but I only have to sleep with a hat on when its really cold in winter!

Do you just want to carry stuff in it or sleep in it? Or do you want to quieten it down when driving?

If you're not sleeping in it then a bulk head and an ebay ply deal is good value. To quieten the cabin, consider carpet for the bulkhead.

If you are sleeping in it then that's a different ball game.

I basically followed Damions advice for my Trafic

http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/insulate-my-van

As a result, it is remarkably quiet and does not suffer from condensation.

I just use self adhesive thermoliner at work, it's sound proofing and insulating, basically it's all you need and doesn't cost the earth, 1/4" ply and veltrim carpet for the sides and easyliner carpet for the more complicated bits. Be carful what glue you use, spray glue can be a minefield, I use contact adhesive but you can use spray if you get the temperature controlled stuff
