Looking for a change after being on WTBs (Vigilante front, Breakout rear) on my fun / enduro bike for nearly 3 years now. There's still an acceptable / bearable amount of tread left but they are so hard wearing, I'd like something with a similar pattern in the 2.3 range, but with maybe a bit more grip on wet roots and rocks. I do run lower pressures in the wet but still they sometimes lack a bit of grip, or maybe its me, or maybe they are more worn out than I thought.
Suggestions? Maxxis? Michelin? Cheers!
Maxxis DHF/DHR is a very reliable combo.
Have youih tried the Vigilante on the rear? It makes for a very grippy, and surprisingly not too slow, rear.
Maybe pair that with a Maxxis DHF up front, or something like the Bontrager SE5.
I went from a Vigilante / Trail Boss combo to Specialized, Hillbilly / Ground Control in GRID casing, works for me. Hillbilly definitely feels like a step up on the gnarr front, Ground Control rolls ok, slides predictably, you could go Slaughter rear or for mega gnarr chuck another Hillbilly on the rear!
