Don't have a huge budget (<£60 highly preferable), but thinking new helmet time

I have an Endura Hummvee that I've run for two years now, it fits well enough, but it's very warm and the pads are a bit knackered. I run hot so good venting is a must, even in really cold weather.

Is the Singletrack II helmet an improvement as i can get that for £50 in my size? (55-59cm)

CRC/Wiggle also have the 7idp M2 on sale at the moment at a good price

Could i sneak a MIPS helmet in for my budget?

I know helmets are a subjective thing, just curious what peoples opinions are

I've ridden a few times with my new Singletrack II lid and I'm quite impressed. It was £45 from CRC after usual discounts.

Previously had a IXS trail, which was comfy but smelt pretty bad after 2 years of heavy use (hard to clean the straps) and felt a bit heavy on the head in hindsight.

I like how light and airy the Endura feels and come winter i tend to wear a buff on my head so the large vents shouldn't be too drafty. Also like the large peak and the petrol colour option is quite subtle yet different.

Can't comment on MIPs alterntives close to the budget, but aren't Lazer making a very cheap version of their STW reviewed Roller?

I'm on the lookout for a bargain myself. Worth a look on Sport Pursuit, perhaps.

There's MIPS and there's MIPS

Some of the older (now less expensive) designs have the MIPS shell attached to the EPS inside the helmet and you may or may not be able to feel it moving in relation to the cradle and straps, depending on how snug you like your helmets.

Newer designs e.g. Bell Sixer have the MIPS part integrated with the cradle and straps so the bits that are in contact with your head don't move.

ST2 certainly cool but the size and angle of the vents does seem to attract branches. I've been wearing mine since May and it's got more dents, scrapes and holes (in the forward facing bits of the polystyrene) than the Giro Xar I was wearing for at least 3 years before).

It's a great helmet for £50 though.

Wiggle have the women's giro montaro for £50, in a not very feminine white, at the moment.

The 7IDP M5 should be less vented as better coverage than the M2 but having switched to the M5 I have found no difference in that respect (and I get ho headed), having used the M5 all summer. At £30 it's a steal. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/7-idp-m5-helmet-2018/rp-prod160316

Giro fixture for £36 if you get go outdoors to price match Merlinwho have it for £40 (only on the red colour).

Its a bit no frills with a fixed peak and unajustable straps but it one of the comfiest helmets I have had and is reasonably airy in comparison to a lot of trail helmets about at the moment.

You could do worse than look at the on-one / carnac enduro helmets - currently going for £15. although they're probably a bit warm for you

I have one of these - worn about 20 times that I'm looking to get rid of in medium. I've found the rear part of the cradle rubs the back of my head. Colour is camo.

I got a bell 4forty with MIPS from CRC . Very comfy , covers alot of the head so it's not the lightest but I don't really notice it while riding . It's also got this sweat channel thing which genuinely really works .

Just bought a Giro Fixture. Light, well vented, one of the best fitting and comfortable helmets I've ever owned. Recommend .

hmm think i'm going to hang on another month and chuck a bit more money at this. Nothings really grabbing me as a big improvement on the Hummvee (which is a good helmet, just to hot for me)
