Only had MTB's since the early 90's but fancied something with a bit lower maintenance for over the Winter and for potential Zwift duties at some point I hope. Might even try SS and scratch that itch too.

It's a 2013 vintage Arkose 3, bought from this here Parish, just got back with it from Londinium a short whilst back. Blimey it's light compared to the FS! Unsurprisingly of course. 🙂

Had to Google how the shifters worked! lol

Going to be ridden with baggy shorts and flats. Basically everyone will hate me, both roadies, off roaders and CXers. 😀

Pics from the for sale ad as cant be asked to tidy up enough tonight to risk a shot indoors, what with you lot! 😉

Im not sure whether to fit bar-top levers? They look a bit odd from webby pics but feels strange not having brakes right at my finger tips/ Will see how quickly I get used to it.

Nice,I got a arkose 2 on Saturday ,never had anything like it before either and the gears are totally new to me,I have to actually think about which way to change gear and at first kept changing the wrong way lol. I thought I would need bar top levers as well but I've done about 70: miles on it this week on and off road and it's all starting to feel normal now and you can brake easily enough off the hoods.
I really like it so far although it feels wrong riding it on rough stoney trails on the skinny tyres with 50psi! when I'm used to a fat bike with about 7psi.

Forgot to mention, I'm also riding in baggies BUT have put some SPD pedals on to try, always used flats before but I must admit I'm quite liking them.I need a peakless lid now.

I'd try giving riding on the hoods a go for a bit, it'll soon feel natural.

As for clothes, I commute on a road bike in baggy shorts, a merino t-shirt and a helmet with a peak on it! I do have clipless pedals on it though, some things just make sense.

Mm93/ soundninjaup, I think your right, just need some getting used to I guess.

Was pondering going 1x but looking to be a bit costly. Not something I "need" anyway. It's just I'm used to 1x gearing on the mtb. 😉

Oh, to post pictures on here use post image.org You don't even need to sign up and you just use the "direct forum link" to put the pic up on here. 😀

Just shove it in the big ring when you set off and leave it there until you arrive at your destination. Job done! See also rule 90.
