You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I see they've put a teaser on Instagram, nothing too revealing just a picture of the aforementioned name. Guessing its a gravel bike of sorts. Will be interesting to see what price point they're going for and availability.
I’m intrigued as I like the look of their stuff, but they have to improve their comms a bit before I consider buying from them again. Looking forward to my new frame arriving, and I’m sure it will be worth the wait, but I only ever get (very polite) updates when I chase them, and seeing the 8-10 weeks lead time has now become 5+ months, I’d just like a bit better comms as standard given the premium nature of the products. I’m not looking for mid pandemic miracles and tubing to magically appear - I appreciate it has been a challenge.
Though if it’s Ti, I might have my head turned.
I know what you mean. They did an absolutely amazing re-paint on my Mk1 Sherpa but I did have to chase them up a few times. Worth it though, the end product is stunning.
Oh my word! One of each please. If only…..
I haven’t worked out what those forks are yet… very clever.
Is the great tyre shortage really that bad? (in relation to both bikes really)
That FS is bloody lovely !!!!
I’d love to see a full sus Sherpa. Just a nice short travel 29er. Both those in the link look stunning.
Odd to use IS rear mount vs Flat Mount.
IS rear, flat mount front. Not ideal. Still not worked out what the forks are…
I don’t get the comment about tyres on both… DHF/DHR combo on the full sus… what’s not to like?!?
Ah… worked it out… you mean because they’re not new. Despite being cleaned up and polished, most of the bike looks to have seen plenty of use (carbon swingarm included). Presumably they’re going to put the miles in on the bike… why not reuse the stuff you’re not testing?
I'd only need the new Ti FS front triangle, have a carbon rear end on order which will hopefully be delivered soon. Oooohh i want one.
@kelvin exactly, no doubt its a bitsa build using whatever is available/to hand. See Shimano brake hose on Hope Brakes! (That hose exit port on the seatstay would be better on the back face not the top face).
Its a looker though!
IS mount makes more sense in CF
if you flat mount, you need to bond in a threaded insert, subject to less than delicate tightening
a through hole isn't subject to the torque or threading requirement, you screw up, all you do is write off an adaptor and bolt
IS mount makes more sense...
I'll stop you there, and agree with you. But brakes for this kind of bike are now flat mount, annoying as that is. Oh, but it's not a carbon frame. And rear flat mount doesn't require threads in the frame (you might be thinking of the old Hayes mount or post mount), just long holes and long bolts and pointless adaptors and more bolts. I've still not worked out if the forks are carbon (if they are they do require threads and all the disadvantages you state for carbon with flat mount).
Loving that carbon Switch9’er!
Lovely looking frames but not sure I can see the point of the internal routing on the swing arm, and the bolts for the shock shuttle look a bit on the small side
@Kelvin - looks to be metallic - M5 bosses look welded in, and dropout/flat mount areas appear to be forged or printed pieces that have been welded and in place before the welds are smoothed off - slightly discoloured but smooth rings above the respective pieces.
On the Switchpath, I'm sure I've seen them teasing that the fork is Titanium. Not sure how they've done it if it is, 'tis a rare thing. The few other makers like Nevi who do it end up with a fairly industrial looking construction, If this is Ti it might be hydro-formed or maybe a 3d printed crown with Ti tube sections welded on for legs, then welds very well smoothed.
I like it. Don't expect it will be particularly affordable. Not convinced on the necessity to pierce holes for seat stay internal routing, but it seems the bike industry thinks cables are a dirty secret that should be banished from all sight...
Wow that Ti switchFS is to die for!!!
The full suspension is a thing of beauty!
Ti and Carbon should massively improve the boat anchor of the original. But looking at those recent Pinkbike photos and the ones in this article -

Is the shock mount really only held on by 3 bottle bosses? Seems a bit crazy for a high stress area. Would have thought a welded on shock mount would be far more sensible like every other manufacturer......
@kelvin
i got my flatmount and IS round the wrong way, and was actually talking about the FS 😀
Is the shock mount really only held on by 3 bottle bosses
You mean the same way Cotic do it? Ally mount and steel tube so you can't weld. The original 26" Rocket ones were glued as well, but that proved to be an unneccessary step.
If your shock is properly set up, you shouldn't be putting that much load into it, as the leverage ratio and damper will have taken the spike out of it.
Surprised Cotic do it this way as well. Isn’t a 3xbottle boss only ment to load about 5kg - that’s what the Bikepacking manufactures seem to limit it too.
I am aware of the steel vs aluminium mount. But if you look at Starling which have a similar set up. They have a very very solid looking welded steel mount/cradle which then the aluminium mount bolts to
Bottle cages sit on top of the bosses, so the bolts are doing all the work.
The Cotic shock mounts socket over the (welded in, not rivnut) bosses, so the load is going directly into the bosses (in shear) and all the bolts do is stop it pinging off. Much the way its the central spigot on a car wheel hub that takes the weight and the bolts just deal with the torque.
