I bought some shimano xc50n shoes last year. http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/clothing/shoes/product/review-shimano-xc50n-45666
I did the 3 peaks and a season of cx in them. they are all torn up now with loads of the synthetic leather ripped off around the heels and the 'carbon look' uppers have all come away.
I think its the constant wet & dry, wet & dry that has taken its toll.
so new shoe time.
I'm looking at the shimano xc60 for £100 http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/clothing/shoes/product/review-shimano-xc60-mtb-shoes-12-45969
or possibly the northwave striker £110ish http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/clothing/shoes/product/review-northwave-striker-sbs-shoes-11-44886
I even looked at the shimano m240 £145 http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/clothing/shoes/product/review-shimano-m240-spd-shoes-11-45572
the shoe has to be tough for the trails (3 peaks) and it needs to be good for running in (within reason)
I like the shimano but worried the carbon sole will be too stiff for cyclocross & the peaks.
the northwave looks good but its an 'unknown' for me.
the mavic range looks like they would be good for running but they dont look that 'tough'. http://bikemagic.com/gear/reviews/mavic-tempo-shoes-review.html#slide-1
I'm also worried that if I spend £100 or more they will too have a short 1yr life span before they are ****ed!
any advice folks?
