You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all, would really appreciate some techy advice please.
I've been looking out for a replacement 230 x 57.5 shock to replace the fubar'd one on my Remedy and came across a new Super Deluxe Ultimate at a very good price.
In my haste to buy it I forgot to check the lower eyelet which turned out to be a bearing mount and not the standard one I needed.
So, before I send it back, can anyone advise how diyable it is to change the damper shaft? The shock was £220 and a new damper shaft is about £50-60 so it might be worth doing if I can do it myself to keep costs down. The old shock is an MM430 and the new one a MM320 so I assume it's the correct (medium?) tune for my bike.
I can find plenty online for servicing but not this.
Needs a total disassembly of the damper to change the stanchion. Can you get new hardware to run it as is?
I tried looking for something along those lines but couldn't find anything. I'm surprised there isn't some hardware available to convert it.
Send it back and buy one that fits.
Super Deluxe service manual;
You need to strip it far enough to replace the damper body so an air can serivce plus de pressurize IFP, remove reservoir cap, remove damper body, fit damper body, bleed shock, set IFP height, refit reservoir cap and re pressurize IFP chamber
Depends on your tools/time/skills and what else is available.
Thanks for the link Rick. Had a look through that website but couldn't find anything - might send them an email.
Also cheers bigyan, quite an involved job then!
Looks like it may be going back if I can't find anything.
