This on my Merlin GP2.

I've changed to Bontrager Arvarda saddle, moved saddle back a cm and dropped my bars 5mm. I was looking and feeling hunched.

New saddle is better comfort wise than the old one, a nameless squishy and narrow thing. It's firm at first but never gets any less comfortable even on today's 3 hr ride.

But, last few rides I've finished with Achilles pain. It lasts for a few days.

I'm also standing up and feeling a proper 'rush of blood' back to, ahem, parts.

Try a different saddle? Move/tilt saddle?

I can cope with the blood issue (maybe I shouldn't), but the pain isn't nice...

Depth of saddle bigger leading to a higher saddle top to pedal drop ?

We accounted for that - shop put tape measure on it. Still worth considering though.

Nudge the nose of the saddle down a touch? Less pressure on "parts" and slightly different hip angle/rotation could mean less stress through your leg muscles

One Achilles, or both? If just one, it would suggest you've gone from a symmetrical position to an asymmetrical one. That would suggest excessive saddle height and that you're now sitting lop sided. Possibly sacrificing the weaker leg to protect the dominant one.

Just one side hurts.

I'm going to try a few mm nose down and a few mm less height too.

Aching achilles one side is always saddle a touch high for me.

That's interesting, Had a similarly one-sided Achilles pain that I couldn't place as not been running much recently let alone anything intense.  But I have been riding in the drops a bit more and bending my arms more when on the hoods so could the slightly different hip angle/rotation be a cause?

old one, a nameless squishy

More squish = less drop to pedals, innit. Drop your new saddle by a couple of mm.
