It's coming to the end of work's June window for the cycle to work scheme so I need to make a decision, do I get this this Cannondale Synapse, or do I spend the £670 quid I would be spunking on wheels and finishing kit for my trusty Pompino.
The Pomp serves as my do it all bike.
They are very different animals, depends what you are looking for really
If the Cannondale was fast, light and comfortable then I think I'd go for it, it'd be used for commuting and longer rides at the weekends. I'd also SS it.
Seems like your looking to spend money for the sake of it (nothing wrong with that)
If you are going to SS the cannondale I'd spend a bit of money on the pomp and save the rest for something else.
Cannondale.
agree with AntLockyer
Cannondale - 2 bikes are better than one.
and the Pompino is a hack bike. no point in dressing it up as something else.
If its SS U want then buy SS.
I wouldn't look at the Cannondale.
why would you want to ss the cannondale. Are you allergic to speed or something???
I've been SS for years now and an scared of going back to gears. I've never had a geared road bike though.

Sorry that is a crap reason, get gears and find out how fast a road bike really is, learn to enjoy the burning legs as you get the bike above 30mph, enjoy the feel as the bike scythes through corners at speed.
agree with mrmo
I was in a similar position a year or so ago.
I love my pomp too much to get rid, so I put a carbon PX fork in, some new cane creek brakes, and some nice new tyres (Id already made some on-one track hub/open sport wheels a while back).
Im happy with it. I wouldnt do a glitzy carbon geared road bike justice, Im happier on my ss pomp.
