Hi All
Thought I’d ask if anybody has seen any deals for a modern carbon disc compatible road bike frame recently? I guess I’m looking for middle ground between race/endurance/aero. Size 54 ish (I think, 5’9” tall).
I’m looking to build up a new road bike after a lifetime of MTB’s. Thinking I’ll get mid week rides in around the suburbs of London, and will be much nicer to do my daily quota of exercise on than my 170mm enduro bike during this lockdown. If I get it built in time.
I’m drawn to electronic shifting and hydraulic discs, and am thinking etap Force AXS Will be much easier to install than Di2. There are good deals on both at the moment.
Question: is it as simple as bolting on a clamp fitting to the seat tube if a frame doesn’t have a braze on front mech bracket as standard?
Are flat mount disc brake callipers most common?
Thanks!
That looks like good value. Do you have any pictures of it built up? How does it ride, is it more race or endurance?
Cheers
Also, this may be a silly question, but where is the fork steer tube in the pics on PX website - or do road steerers do something different to mtb?
Most carbon frames will come with braze on front mech but if they don't a standard clamp on mech will work, flat mount is industry standard pretty much, axs is much easier to fit especially with various internal routed frames.
I'd maybe look at seeing of you can pick up a full bike as for Force axs and all the gubbins you're going to be £1800ish then wheels probably at least a grand plus then say £400 or more for the rest of the stuff, you're easily on three grand without even getting the frame.
