Has any body got the most recent Planet X ti road bike ..... Any feedback would be appreciated.
Is it worth the extra few hundred quid for the ultegra upgrade?
And is it that much better than the carbon bike they offer ?
Loads of questions I know but I have only owned one geared road bike and that was thirty years ago !
according to their own site the ultegra is actually heavier than their rival spec... so saving 500 quid and weight seems good
can't imagine the shifting feel is worth 500 quid more... and if it is you could probably buy the whole groupset later for just over 500 quid
the wheels are different but I don't think there's much in those.. and you might use the 500 quid to get uber wheels or a holiday or something
Yep that makes sense ta. Any one actually got one to let me know what it's like. A comparison between it and a carbon bike would be great.
I had one. Not that it qualifies me in any way but Ive owned and ridden a few titanium bikes. I wasn't impressed to be honest, disappointed by the quality of the welds and the geometry which didn't suit me.
The head tube is really short too. How does it compare to carbon, well titanium is different. A good titanium frame feels light and zingy, bottom line, you get what you pay for.
I have a Planet X carbon bike (RT57) with the SRAM Rival spec, and the rival is vey nice. I'm loving the "Double Tap" action of the shifters. I wouldn't pay £500 more for a heavier groupset in Ultegra.
That's great thanks, looks like the carbon may be the way to go. Couldn't cope with even a cople of poor beads on the frame due to my bike OCD !
Planet X Pro Carbon looks a decent deal... there quite a few decent deals going on the big sites too atm..
Then theres German mail order like Canyon / Rose
I'm using SRAM rival double tap and I would never go back to shimano now. I agree with above, trade the wheels in for something better. As px build their own bikes they let you spec them as you want or upgrade.
Buy a carbon bike and if you don't like it just change the frame and forks
Hey guy have you checked out this model...?
Around your price range and you get a fair bit more bang for your buck!
