This started out as a V1 or V2 not sure Sonder Al Camino frame that I got from the seconds/damaged stock at the hathersage Alpkit store 2 years ago. It had a slight dent in the head tube but was otherwise straight. Iirc it cost £80, the Camino carbon fork was NOS painted in the mint colour and cost £90. I bought it as a winter project to have a go at repainting. The rest of the first build was with spare parts in the shed or nicked off other bikes and this is the first incarnation, as you can see it's not subtle...

After an autumn and winter of riding I got bored of the colour and decided to change it.
I ran a poll on my Instagram and YouTube channel to see what the most popular or interesting colour would be suggested. @my.midlife.adventure suggested Neopolitan Ice Cream so that's what I went with. I also wanted to ditch all but one of the gears, no easy task on a std threaded BB with a bolt through rear axle. Here's how it turned out....
Got some ukgravelco graphics to add when they are ready to go on the vanilla panel
Yes, I need to cut the grass 🤦
That paintjob looks amazing! What BB did you use after?
Looks to have turned out very well - hope to see it shredding the local trails soon - plant free 🙂
Very nice, my only criticism is the brown bar tape doesn’t compliment the paint scheme.
how was the BB to setup? I've thought about them before but always been a bit wary of the teeny grub screws.

Yea, I know what you mean. Again I asked the internet and the consensus was brown or pink. Do you know how hard it is to find waffle cone brown? I ordered this and a pink (actually pink waffle as it happens) and decided whichever turned up first would go on

I followed the instructions to the letter....and that was a right faff so in the end did it my own way and it seems to have gone ok. Got a sprained calf ATM so SS off road is out ATM, but yea those tiny grub screws seem a bit small!
If anyone is interested here's the video series. As you can see I'm no expert with a fancy paint booth!
here’s the video series
I watched them. Thought the brown looked dreadful at first, but the finished ice cream version is fab! 😁
Grass might indeed need cutting, but FTLOG sort that moss out 😉
Really nice 👍
That looks incredible. I love in one of the earlier videos it was "these forks will stay this colour" and "I'll be putting gears on the bike"...
You made the right choice on both counts for the final result though!
Always thought a SS camino would be a riot
Great job on the paint!
I have some neon pink bar tape on a road bike. It looks grubby very quickly, despite having full guards and not getting ridden much.
I think brown bar tape is a much better choice on an off road bike
Looks good.
The bar tape is OK, though a bit more "poo brown" than "ice cream cone brown".
I have the same wheels on my gravel bike, what width tyres are those?
40mm Goodyear connectors
Good work. Will check out the tube when I have some spare time!
Needs matching bottle cages!
Good job. MTB and gravel need more of the DIY custom vibe rather than brand brand brand. My preference is for the first paint job but they are both good.
Trouble with the first paint scheme was the florescent paint was very powdery, great for blending but the finish just held on to dirt so it soon looked tatty.
Anyway 2nd ride out involved a crash that ruined the bar tape so it'll be pink as soon as I have time to change it.
Another question on the BB gizmo, after the faff of fitting, is it stable and easy to adjust?
Also, it must be a mk2 camino as I think it was only the mk1 that was quick release
Agree my mk1 was qr.
Love the new colour scheme 👍.

Seems to be, it's not moved yet. It's simple to adjust once you get used to it
Final update and first spin
