Rides amazingly! It's pretty cheap considering I think. €7k for full carbon wheel, eagle spec with your full choice of colors. What would that be from SC or Intense? The one I want is the cheaper one but with the coil shock and is considerably cheaper. I was lucky enough to guide the press launch and got to ride the bike a lot.

It does look great, I feel like they added the one sided strut thing just to say, hey it looks like a demo, plenty other bikes seem to manage with no strut there. The colour thing is pretty cool though, going to have a play with that, albeit I just dropped $500 on new brakes for my current bike, so its going nowhere for a while.

Ha, cheers. Might need a 29er to catch up with Tom Dunn at next year's series 😆

One sided strut is to give access to the shock for changing settings and lockout. Not for looks!

only if the shock has to go through the seat tube, look at a bronson or stumpjumper frame, there's little need for a strut there at all, and you get access from both sides and a symmetrical bike. Therefore, its entirely for looks, although i'm sure they will claim a stiffness benefit.

Ok, I'll be really out of step here.

It really doesn't look anything special to me. Especially at the price?

Definitely not a lover of the one sided brace either.

Looks nice, price appears quite competitive compared to other similar carbon bikes, but still its a lot of money.

Not sure I want 29 inch wheels, was kind of hoping to move my existing forks and wheels over to whatever bike I end up with next, but looks like the whole world is going 29 inch over the next couple of years.

Could be tempted by this, but am thinking a geometron might be better. The only thing putting me off the geometron is the weight of the frame.

Currently have a 2015 Rallon (in fluro yellow) and its a great bike.

I do like the purple - my Starling would have been that colour if it were generally available as a powdercoat.

Any pics of the small? Standover doesn't look great but maybe that's an optical illusion.

At 5'8" and 32" inseam, my medium R4 Rallon is fine for me. Going by the figures, this new R5 Rallon has lower standover clearance in the small and is still marginally lower in the large than my medium so should be ok if you're similar proportions.

It think it looks that way because they've all got slammed 175mm droppers in the pics

I wish I had a 32" inseam - I'm a similar height but with a 29" inside leg if the post is a 170mm with the seat tube length stated, I'd not be able to even reach the pedals at full extension.

Here's my Murmur with a 125mm post for comparison and that's got a 380mm seat tube -

I could just about get a 150mm post in there but that's it and the Rallon is 1" longer in the tube.

Do Orbea only offer full builds?

I like the look of one of these but id only be wanting frame only. Ive looked on the site but only full builds are listed which is a shame.

They sometimes do, you have to go through your local dealer or contact them directly. They´re not a massive company and are pretty flexible for most things. They told me as well that you can ask for parts that aren´t part of the build kit on the bikes if you get in touch. They will try and see what they have available and swap out parts for you if it´s possible.

J273 - Rallon 29 frame only is listed as £2999 I believe.

Frames won't be available straight away as allocation has been made for complete bikes first. Pre orders are flooding in from shops currently.
