I think there is a new bike coming out next year but no idea what they are calling it. The Alpine 160 replaced the Patriot

Not strictly true, the alpine was never a direct replacement for the patriot. The did make a very small number of 180mm 225esque frames (with swing link).I think Phil at bike verbier had one for a bit.
I thought you were getting a Mega Mr M?Not looking to loose the strange are you....!!!I'll enquire with Mr Proctor when I'm back in work.

Ohhh very interested to see if Patriot will be re launched.

It was going to be the bike for my 30th(later this year) so was sorting out the funds accordingly. Then it was dropped!

Fingers crossed it will be back?

Now I like the idea of that. Be interested to see should they launch a 180mm travel 224/225.

Thanks Jeffus. There's so many Strange bikes made, a lot of them don't get made into actual Oranges so I wouldn't get you hopes up too much. With the Five AM build and the Alpine 160 having a fair bit of crossover you could argue that there's not the space for a Patriot. I'd like to see it come back though!

The DH bike test in Dirt mentions that the new 225 is coming out next year, although it may have been written last year, so maybe they mean 2012 model year, i.e. September?

Maybe the patriot will be out at the same time?

Thanks for the links guys, looks very beefy , probably more bike than I can ever fully use 😀
sparkingchains I have a strange now, it became the new 5

[img] [/img]

It has all the features of the new 5 taper head tube , 30.9 seat post with cable guides, and ISCG mounts, only difference is it has the 16" seat tube but the top tube length of an 18", ideal for me with my stubby legs 😀

Jeffus - Looks awesome. I saw something very similar at Bike Treks Ambleside last year.

I build Rowan Sorrell's bikes, and I've seen 3 evolutions of the linkage on what will become the 225. They won't make a production bike until the factory bike is spot on. That's what like about Orange bikes.
It's just about there now from Rowan's recent reports. He says it rides smoother and allows him to get on the gas where the single pivot bike didn't.
He won 1st time out on the 1st evolution of it, and it's just got better and better.
