frame only it's a bit cheaper than a SIR 9 so 'a bit cheaper than a SIR 9' would be my guess.

I do like that blue 🙂

Straight in a number 1 on my want list. FF29 anyone?

Get a ritchey p-29er instead. Failing that you wont be disapointed with an inbred at 100 quid. Minimal difference other than price.

Ooops. dint read it properly. Nikolai it is then. You can whack 800's on a 50mm with an inbred. Put some x-king 2.4 protections on and you have a beast.

As well as being a different type of bike entirely those P-29ers are, imho obviously, hideous.

tattoos = instant gnar to the power of psickness.
and they even say "sh!t" on their website.

must be a seriously bada$$ bike....however, like the mighty bikesnob of the bike apple, i must admit i am most certainly nonplussed.

Yelli Screamy geometry in proper steel and with an EBB ... what's not to like? (CEN exempt too, perhaps, so are they allowed to make a steel bike feel like steel?)

I'll take the grey.

It's nothing like the Ritchey .... which is also nice, but very different.

Taz, price aside, why do you prefer the Buzzard?

ridden niners and ridden singulars....both are ace, but i like the feel of Sams stuff that little bit more, just seems to work better for me. I certainly wouldn't be upset to have a niner, but for the cost give me a singular and I'll use the extra few hundred quid I've saved to get my pimp on

Yes - Bikerumor spotted a few X01 builds on Niner's website recently.

Shame it's quoting plain 4130 chro-mo instead of some posh Reynolds stuff, like the Sir 9. Not convinced personally.

Looks lovely but only obvious advantage over a Buzzard is easy SS-ability so I'm out

What does this do that the Buzzard, Yelli, Honza and QH can't?
Big price tag with cheap tubing. Not interested.

Edit: The pictures of the riding are boring too. Looks like he's destroying a berm above.

You can get colour-matched forks.

There's also a new alloy Jet 9:

Take an EBB for one thing.

I'm sure it's nice and that but having recently tried to get hold of a Niner frame, it'll probably be some time next year before they're available over here. That seems to be the case with most Niner stuff from what I've found so far!

Oh, Ti Buzzard sounds interesting!

EBB? There's other ways of setting a frame up SS without the huge cost.

Alan.

You buy direct from the QH boys.
Price is on the website and delivery's around 20 or so euros.
Nice lads to deal with too.

Sure but EBB is nice and 'integrated'. But I find a tensioner works fine too.

I suspect Niner aren't expecting to sell too many over here, but had to do something about Canfield, Kona etc muscling in on their turf 'over there'.

Would quite like a go on one of those QHs, any mediums knocking about near Surrey, with an owner prepared to swap for a ride?

There are. And in my experience they either look shit or actually are shit. An EBB is the only method I've tried which both looks ok and stops the wheel sliding forward under pressure.

I have and have had quite a few different sliders and EBB's and the sliders on the QH are by far the most secure method i've seen.
Every EBB i've had has creaked at some point. Though Jones has a good setup with the inside of the EBB shell machined out so the EBB unit only contacts the ends of the shell and doesn't "rock" as much.
These sliders have been solid so far.

Yeah, not really a fan of the look of that style of dropout, I looked quite closely at the QH's a while ago but they were what put me off. Same goes for the Honzo dropouts.

I also looked at the Buzzard but the geometry seems odd and without a test-ride I wouldn't like to risk it.

I did fancy a HX2 but couldn't get hold of one at the time due to progressive/chumba supply problems.

Yeah, not really a fan of the look of that style of dropout,

I have in the past been so enraged by creaky EBB's that the "style" of a dropout/slider doesn't even come into it as long as it doesn't creak. 😆

Technically it's not a ti buzzard, nor is it a Ti swift, it's somewhere between the two. It's got a shorter arse than the swift but much slacker angles. I think there are 3 protos in existence, I own one, its ace, no two ways about it. If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to have people ride it. We've also got a large buzzard demo for a direct comparison.

Horses for courses innit, I have to strip my niner down about once every 4 months to carbo-grip it and then it stays quiet for another 4 months but I'd have to see those dropouts every day!

Plus if I go to a 2 Niner "fleet" (sorry) I can then buy the niner branded riding clothing and not have to worry about making sure I'm riding the right bike for the shirts... 😉

QH dropouts are a non-issue. They don't move or make any noise. Equally I have used On-one horizontal drop-outs for years with 1 drive-side chain tug - don't move at all.

Niner EBB on the other hand had a plethora of issues - it has whole threads on mtbr devoted to solutions (I know this is the new version).
