Hi all,

Time to replace my SPD shoes with something a bit lighter and newer.

Currently riding in Shimano DX spd shoes which have no grip for walking and are quite heavy.

I have around £75 to spend on something for all year round riding. Need to be a bit wider in the toe box too.

Any recommendations?

I've always liked Specialized shoes and have owned the previous version of the Recon for several years. Comfy from the off, good grip, 3-4 season warm, stiff enough but flexible for walking. On top of this it's cheap as chips compared to a lot of what's out there.

I got a pair of the spesh recon 2's in November for my gravel bike (ride flats on the MTB) and they've been great. I can walk in them, they're stiffer than my old shoes and the grip when walking is good too.

Cheers both.

How do the recon size up? Do I need to go up by a size etc?

Sorry Renton, can't advise there as the size is worn off mine and I just went to a Specialized store and tried them on until they fit.

What size are you normally @renton? In Shimano I'm a 46 or 47. Specialized it's 45 or 46. Other shoes/trainers it depends sometimes I'm a 10, 10.5 or 11. If only Brooks made cycling shoes!!!
