Not for the first time, I'm struggling to insert an image

1. Find the url of the image. It should end in a file extension like .jpg, for example, that indicates an image file. For example:

2. Click on the IMG button above. Paste the url of the image into the box. Click OK, and it should insert the code needed to display a linked image. The url above links to this image:

Personally I have no idea why we cant have the usual system employed by just about every other forum and site on the web. Click attach and you upload a file from your own computer.

Is it to do with storage ?, as in uploading means because its far easier to upload the image, we would be inundated by loads of them ?.
TBH I cant see how thats a problem, retrobike must have tens of thousands of images stored on site, and they certainly dont have the income STW does.

I understand that the concern is hosting images where the person doing the uploading doesn’t have the copyright of the image
