It'll be more interesting when he actually gets his hands on the gemometry rather than having to use "standard" Time frames.

Great to see his name on a bike again, always wanted a Proped.

Yes, having been shut down by Armstrong it's nice to see him being able to put his name back on a bike.

Yes that's him, there was a good Rapha film a few months ago with him in it too.

JEEEEEZ he got old !

Only by the same amount as the rest of us 😕

I remember being glued to the TV when Greg won the TDF in the time trial in 1989... so when I finally came to buy a road bike in 1997 I was very happy to buy a Lemond (which I still ride).

The three models out now are all connected to one of his three tour wins somehow.

If you don't like the yellow one I'm sure the other two might suit sir 😀

I had an old Columbus steel one, loved it, but it was the geometry that made it, much longer in the top tube than standard and and tweaked seat and head angles, I cant see the point of a purely badged frame if that's what it is

Also the colours scheme looks like a dated and a bit like a Boardman....

It's not, these three models are simply an introduction to the market, (timed for InterBike), he's partnered with Time and his models will be out next year, so I'd expect to see his take on geometry on those

I don't need a new road bike but if I did and I could afford one... 8)

He, rather his builder, made one of the sweetest Steel frames out there a few years back. I borrowed it for a weekend off a mate and it felt much better and nicer to ride than my carbon Orca..

Good to see him back 😀

Good point, is he having a subtle dig about being the only American Tour de France winner?

What a guy. I like the look of his old steel frames - good geometry, slack seat tube angles!

I like the fact the models are named after the years he won TdF. He's the only American who can do that 🙂

IIRC the front triangle is Time, the rear are Greg's design.

Liking the look of the bikes, and liking Greg overall as well. Good to see him back.

But....I can't help but have a nagging doubt in the back of my mind about him. Pretty much every single person he was racing, and indeed beating, was juiced up to the eyeballs. So, how did he compete so successfully as a 'clean' rider? Don't get me wrong here, I want to believe in him, but the nagging doubt remains.

Dunno whether "juiced upto the eyeballs" back then is the same as it is thesedays. Were the doping techniques actualyl any good?

Plus, I thought Lemond was suppsoed to be the most genetically perfect cyclist ever or something.

curious to see if he makes "cheap" bikes, there is no such thing as a cheap Time frame so if they are making the production frames?

Also wonder if he will user multiple contractors, Time are a carbon specialist, will we see Steel, Alu, Ti etc. Or will he use a chinese/Tiawanese manufacturer to produce a more affordable carbon frame.

I do wonder this, but Lance's tatics, i am sure it would have come out if there was any evidence.

Along with Cadel Evans, Greg Lemond has never been remotely connected with PED intake. Greg is a true American hero IMHO.
The only bad thing against him is when Andy Thompson was building my 853 minimal clearance mudguard road bike in 97 we'd agreed on the new coffin shaped 853 tubes - which Greg then bought the entire production run for his 853 frames. So I got my bike built with ovalised top and down tubes instead.

looks far too Livestrong to me.
Bad move.

Plus I think there's a bit of a stigma attached to bike brands named after famous cyclists. Or at least I stigmatise them.

Just about to ride home on one of his Trek made Etape's. I've rode the crap out of it tbf and it got me my 3rd Cat license and to work and back for the last 4 years, I've been eyeing up something a little more modern as a replacement but I'll be sad to see it go.

I had it S/H for £220, probably the best money I've ever spent on a bike, just wish it'd take full guards for winter use.

I would be surprised if you can't get mudguards on it.

may take a little work and fiddling though, i can get guards on this.

Wanted some Chromoplastics on it for the winter, not enough room under the brakes, looking at Raceblades for this year.

raceblades are fine, they're just a bit fragile.

But....I can't help but have a nagging doubt in the back of my mind about him

so speaking out critically about Lance, costing him his business and his health, was a cunning double bluff?

I'm generally pretty cynical but I've never doubted Lemond was clean, as aP says he and Evans are rare TdeF winners who've never been tarnished, only potentially robbed of more success.

Agree the colourscheme is a mix of Boardman and Livestrong which is a shame.

Why does the yellow on the inside of the fork and seatstays look completely different from the one on the top tube?
Is that by design?

(I've checked other pics and the top tube one is much warmer and less acidic)

My take on it?

The yellow top tube is a hint to the yellow jersey. The inside if the forks/stays are a nod to the bikes he rode. The tri colour ones are the 'Z' bikes and so on.

Lemond and Tomac both back in bikes .. good times. 2 pros that really inspired me as a young rider. Love the fade details and original logo.

They look very nice. If I was in the market for a road bike, I'd be taking a good look at these.

The reemergence of these bikes sends out quiet **** you to Armstrong and Trek.

You can't keep a good man down.

That's what I thought too. Still shouldn't mix them imo.

+1. The tour I first really remember following was '89, sat watching the final TT on a tiny black and white portable TV in a caravan in the Lakes, shouting in disbelief. His story (coming back from being shot, riding with lead pellets still in him) was inspiring before you-know-who, and without re-treading a well worn path he is someone who deserves to bounce back and succeed in the cycling boom.

Just wish I could afford one of his bikes!

I know its the old adage of 'if you have to ask, you cant afford it' but how much are they? I imagine an alliance with Time, who never make things that are cheap will mean its beyond the likes of me.

I always wanted a LeMond Alp Duez lovely looking steel bike from the late 90's.

🙁

starting price is $7500 with a Chorus Build and $10k with Super Record according to the articles i have seen.

If anyone has $7500 and they don't need it, i am happy to help with the disposal.

Cool!

I have a Poprad disc which I accidentally bought one night when drunk. It turned out to be my most ridden bike used for CX, commuting, touring and nipping down the pub.

The only famous cyclist's name I'd want on a bike is Obree.

Indeed a huge contrast between the lives/careers of Boardman and Obree post heyday.

It seems Obree despite being a revolutionary figure was unable to get that golden ticket for long term commercial success in the bike trade. Although going by the price he charged for his training manual, I doubt I could afford one of his bikes.

oldgit - Chambery 1989! I watched that from the roadside. Watched the early part of the race from a point between the pits and the finish line, then walked up to the summit of the climb, in the biblical thunderstorm which struck midway through, to see the final laps.

An incredible experience which I will never forget. I can't really put into words the atmosphere that day, it was a complete one-off.

Cleaned up my old Lemond Tourmelet a few months back. Despite being a commuting hack for years (100 miles or more per week down the Old Kent Road - cycling Nirvana! 😉 ) it came up rather well. It had been sitting idle in the back of the shed but after the clean up I'm keeping it. Groupset is nothing fancy but I still like the skinny steel look on a road bike.
