Is there an upto date map of the new trails at Kielder? I know they've put something in on the Deadwater side.

Was the rest of the work just repair and rebuilding or was new stuff added on Lonesome pine and Bloody bush?

Is black on Dead water open again? The one lower down, not the bit up by the mast.

Struggling to find much good info.

I dunno where there are any up to date maps but there is new stuff. On Deadwater side, after the fun singletrack climb (3 dog? and Skelly's Riggin - or something like that) bear left on the forestry track and brings you to a new jump line, mile Doon and brings you in halfway along and of the old DH tracks that has had some work. Basically Mile Doon is short (would be surprised if it's half a mile), big berms, some "interesting" features, jump line is really just an alternate entry to this, DH track is not at all as manufactured in the most part and has done pretty rowdy moments. All bring you out almost at the bottom of the climb (turn left on the forestry road for 100m ish). Think the rest of the black was open a month or so back.

Near the sky space/Observatory there are a couple of new bits - again "flow" trail type rather than singletrack or technical. The main bit is probs 2/3 of the way round the existing red loop on that side but you can probably get to it quicker riding up the sky space access then bearing left.

As usual with Kielder, there are good bits and these add to it but it's a bit dispersed for the sake of it rather than taking you on any real journey.

Lonesome Pine side is a rebuild of the original trail from below the boardwalk (above that is still being worked on) but personally I'd say its now blue grade instead of a red since the work was done.  The Mile Down track on Deadwater side is the old NDH track from years ago which has also had a lot of work done, its currently only the lower sections that are officially open, top part which is the hardest/techy part is still being worked on and isn't due 2 open till late this year or early nxt year. There's also a new red trail alongside the middle section of the mile down track which is a flow/jump line instead of rocky/tech. It was very loose and dry when I was last there so hopefully the trails have bedded in by now. The final descent on the old black was open and riding well at the time, my nephew actually preferred that to any of the new stuff which came as a surprise

Thanks, I've not been up there in years. Tend to go to Hamsterley as there is a nice mix of stuff with steeper off piste. Need to get some time on the XC bike so Kielder might offer a bit of variety.
