Was planning on getting a Barfly, may be tempted by one of these instead though they manage to look pretty cheap to reflect the price!

I've just got one of the SRAM ones, it can mount backwards so the Garmin is over the stem*, which seems safer for MTBing.

The shape/size of the stem means I can't attach the standard Garmin mount to the stem itself.

seen the cheaper 3d printed ones snap - tempted to try these since they are aluminium - and zero moving parts since superstar still have not mastered them.

Where are the SRAM ones available from? Fancy one of those to get my Garmin over my MTB short stem..

IMO the Superstar ones look like they're trying to look flash, which makes them look cheap. Whereas the Barflys, though admittedly a pretty expensive bit of plastic, are more innocuous so less "cheap" looking... Might just be me... The Superstar ones also look over-engineered compared to Barfly. If they were similarly basic bits of plastic but half the price I'd probably be tempted.

I've got the K-Edge one on my posh road bike, that's what these are copying. The K-Edge one is just 2-pieces of beautifully machined aluminium - even the mount are is just machined to the perfect thickness to make it springy enough to hold the Garmin securely.

OK, so it's 4 times the price, but I like nice things. Might get one of these for the race bike - it's a bit more of a work horse.

Got my SRAM one from Wiggle

£13.99 before discounting

Superstar one looks good for the price, perhaps not one for a weight weenie but surely just fine for anyone else

I've got one of those K-edge ones and its MIGHTY tight getting the actual Garmin on. To the point where its buggered the back of my 800 and the 500 seems to be going the same way

I'd prefer a plastic/resin one, the superstar one looks good as its an alloy body with a composite holder

+1 for barfly

Got mine off ebay USA for about £16 for a pair. And plastic wont knacker the bars in a crash.

I've got the Garmin mounts on my road and CX bikes. I wonder about how much thought has gone into some of these mounts. I'd much prefer the mount to break in a crash, rather than the back to rip off the Garmin.

TINAS - is that the recent Barfly version? Either way, could you point me in the direction of the retailer for those? Ta.

Have K-edge, an Sram and a Raceface luminous one (teenagers).

The K-edge is by far and away the nicest piece of bling. And it matches the pro chain catcher. It's on the front of the bike, you look at it all the time. Of course it should look good! Like all the best jewellery 😉

Can the Superstar one mount backwards so the garmin is over the stem like the Sram one pictured above? Cant quite figure it out from the pics.

SRAM and K-Edge won't fit backwards over a 50mm Thomson x4. Racewaredirect one works.

stayhigh - i think it has potential too if you turn the lower part of the mount upside down - you lose the side to side stability groove though - and even at that its only a maybe.

ive ordered one to try out as my Commuter needs an outfront due to space issues -its currently on the top tube, lights have priority on the bars.

Does anyone make these out-front mounts to fit an Edge 305?

Mine would be to go on a 70mm Thomson as the normal mount doesnt fir there. The sram one in Bails post above looks ok but not sure if it will fit on a 70mm. I may have to order both and have a play around.

My SRAM one is on a 70mm stem.

The length of the stem doesn't really affect it tbh, it will just sit above a different point if you change the stem length.

Nice to see it doesn't have that awful faux gothic font that other superstar bits have on them.

I have weighed up the options in this thread and feel I am still Barfly 2.0-bound.

SRAM one and K-Edge interfered with the stem cap on my 50mm stem and so didn't work at all and def wouldn't work if you have spacers

Does anyone make these out-front mounts to fit an Edge 305
yes search on ebay, sram do an adapter thats less than a tenner so you can use these 3/4 mounts, i used one and it worked fine.
Will it take a bryton 40?
..my bryton 35 works in garmin mounts etc

@qtip. There's an adapter out for older style Edge mountings to new style quarter turn mounts. This one

why not just use the supplied mount and wrap the rubber straps around the bar, the garmin sits on the stem above the faceplate join.. works on my 50mm stems... or an i missing something?

Can you buy the other half of the connector, i.e. could these be used as qr light/battery mounts.

superstar mount arrived today.

cant see why it wont do whats its told.

i suspect a bit of loctite on the arm mount wont go a miss but the garmin slides in and out of the head nicely and it sits about level with the bars once on. Beats having it on the top tube anyway.

I've just got one of the J+L ebay ones, looks exact same as the SRAM one only £8, took a while to get here though.

My Superstar mount arrived today.
First impression .. very good!
It looks everything as solid as the K-edge. Prob as heavy too.
But the plastic mount looks to eliminate the probs of the K-edge ruining the back of your Garmin.

It'll go on the winter bike. No more drenching it with sweat when on the rollers now.

Just fitted mine to my Pitch, mounted it on the left and turned the mount arm 180 degrees so it face back over the stem. Solid and good by the looks!

Amazingly cheap for what they are.

In the UK material would be £2.00 anodising £0.50 injection moulded bit say £1.00 (taking mould cost into account) so your at £3.50ish before it going near a machine...

I bet you couldn't make it for much less than £10.00 if you machined it in the UK...

You can get the SRAM adapters at wiggle now to enable your old 305 slide fitting to fit the 1/4 turn fittings.

That'd be why the price has gone up then 🙂

Just ordered the superstar one for my dad. Bit gutted really as I bought the k edge last month and thought the same thing about the metal / back of the Garmin. I use the edge on my road bike too but with the official Garmin one.

Yes - lots of comments on the K-Edge alu seat being too harsh for the back of the plastic garmins. I think these Superstar ones are a better TBH.
If I was to pick a fault with it .. it would be that it could have been maybe 5mm longer. I got it at the max extension to fit it inline & infront of the stem.

Only downside is that I bought an official plastic garmin out front mount a month or so ago for over 3times more than the superstar mount!!

Well I ordered it yesterday morning and it was here today so great service.

Finish isn't quite as good as the K Edge one but for the savings, worth it!! Plus the better fixing imho, as stated above.

Other bonus points for a packet of sweets (the kids grabbed!) and some stickers for my workshop!

Really wish this had been around a month ago when I bought mine now.

Only a couple of quid less than the SRAM one now so I reckon I'll stick with the SRAM one once I can get hold of a 605 adapter.

Unless someone persuades me otherwise, I think I'm going Sram as well - almost half price of barfly, going to get a couple for Xmas.

Sorry but that Superstar one looks butt fugly, i like the way its lower and in line with the stem but the clamp looks bulky, going to be SRAM for me too i think......

Are the J&L ones from the same mould as the SRAM ones? They look identical / half the price.

Can anyone confirm if they'll go backwards over a Thomson 70mm stem?
