Anyone seen/tried them?

Seem to solve the two small gripes I had with the old ones (fitting/removing and weight) so just ordered myself a set.

They do look nice and if they'd been around two months ago probably would have bought some, hey ho.

Yeah, I'd have bought them first time round if they'd been available instead of the origina ones. The self-extractor isn't compatible with the old one either, which is a shame - am a bit reticent about taking them on trips abroad given they're more or less impossible to remove without all the tools

Any links to the self-extracting tool? Is it just some variant on the standard crank puller in which case you just need it and a suitable spanner?

It's just the same sort of system as a SRAM or Raceface crank, uses a 10mm allen key to remove/refit the crank. It's not a separate part, it's integrated in the driveside crankarm

Is it not the same as the RF & Sram interface? I.e.- big hex key?
Edit: Beaten to it. Great system though. Glad they are using it. I might be tempted now! Shame about the propriety BB though.

Really like some Hope stuff, but it seems like they have been working hard to produce cranks on par with Raceface stuff from mid Nineties.

It's the same 30mm BB standard as Raceface, E13 and others - plenty of cheap ones about if you don't want a Hope one - Rotor one is good value.

Given all the SixC cranks I broke before this, I'm a lot happier on the Hopes. That said, I'm buying Hope over Raceface Turbine because I just like the Hope ones more.

Ah, yes, it's written on the crank arm in one of the shots on the product page.

Given that I've never noticed any flex* in a 24mm spindle I don't really see the need for a 30mm one.

* I'm assuming that anyone who claims they can have allowed for the tyre carcase, frame and what they are wearing on their feet all moving as well.

Hopes are twice the price though! I agree the RF carbon cranks are junk (I've broken Next Sls) but the Turbines are very good.

Yep, I broke 2 sets of Next SL's and 3 sets of Next R's in nearly 3 years, which is when the warranty ends, so went with Turbines. If these had been around before fitting the and using the Turbines I'd probably have sold them and got the Hopes.

Tempted for a set for my new build as they’re a tad more affordable than the Ti Cane Creek jobbies

Think 30mm is for weight saving moreso than stiffness

Flex and stiffness are the same thing but with a 30mm spindle you can get the same stiffness for less material and less weight. Also a larger diameter is better for bearings...you can fit more bearings in, or fit larger bearings and they run more slowly. Not really talking big differences having said that so like for most things on bikes it's about marginal gains. On it's own it makes sweet FA difference...but make 20 similar changes around your bike then it all adds up to something you might notice.

I prefer my old ones, I like the tapered plug setup and bigger logo.
