Hi I am new here and starting to get into mountain biking,I have spent a bit of time this last week riding at Wharncliffe woods (Sheffield) and at Sherwood pines.

Everywhere we (my son and I) have rode has been like a swamp and we have discovered the horrible nastyness of wet bum/thighs. How do people deal with this? can you get waterproof shorts or something?

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies
Steve

You can get waterproof shorts, yes. Altura do them, as do Endura I think.

Have a look on Wiggle or CRC.

Mudguards make a difference (although some people find them deeply unfashionable)...

They are not so good on a full sus as you need to leave space for the rear wheel travel, unless you get a rear guard like a Zefal No Mud that attaches nearer to wheel, rather than the usual seatpost attachment.

On the front, something like a Mucky Nutz Fender Bender will do quite a good job, so long as you have enough clearance between the fork brace & the tyre. For me, it was a bit tight on one bike, but fine on another.

Endura Superlite Shorts work well for me.
