ive got a 6 year old exposure diablo, that seemingly still works absolutely fine, but on the hunt potentially for a new one, has the lighting changed much in 6 years? (clearer/crisper etc)

problem with diablo is the run time, its no use for any of my night rides to run on full power (1hr max), then the next level down I don't really feel gives any decent light really, or im in full panic mode its going to cut out so sometimes run it on the lowest setting just to be safe

would consider going back to having a light unit on top, with a smallish battery in pocket if need be, are the hope r2 helmet lights any good? or anything similar?

ive looked at exposure joystick too, but even on full power that only runs for 1hr 30mins, generally rides are around 2-3hrs at night and in the depths of winter riding in pitch black from the off

Four4th Scorch. Self -contained and 2000lumens high and 700 low. But the low is decent enough for endurance rides and lasts 4+hrs. And at that point you can swap the battery and carry on. Or run at full whack and swap sooner.

exposure axis. happily does 2-3 hour rides for me but then i turn it right down while climbing etc and only use full power on the fast bits.

that 4rth looks ok, but way my helmet is designed it looks possibly a bit too long to angle properly

exposure axis I don't think ive seen before, will have to have a look into it, I thought there was just diablo and joystick for mtb duties?

sits in between the diablo and the joystick.

what about a support cell for your diablo?

You aren't meant to, but the Four4th does fit an exposure mount too. Not as secure as the proper Four4th mount, but is as tight a fit as a joystick etc.

never thought about a support cell tbh, will have a look at costing, but then got to strap it on somehow/where

how much does that 4th one weigh? looks a lot bigger than my diablo at present

115g - battery and light.
77g - battery only.
It's 5mm or so longer than a joystick so still quite small.

Yeah. Just pick the right mount in the options and add in extra batteries if you need them.
The one thing you do need to remember is that the on-off/toggle modes is touch screen so you need a bare finger or a touch screen glove- but most are nowadays anyway.

I run the joystick but in conjunction with a bar light and I turn both down when I'm climbing or transitioning between the trails. Using both combines their power so I rarely need the helmet light on full whack. My bar light magicshine is getting on a bit now so I might replace it this season and go for an all in one exposure bar light.
