Looking to get a new MTB helmet .
General riding with long climbs and long and technical downs ( south of France , EWS in 2017 ) . Not that I am good enough to ride down all those hills at speed but fancy a helmet with removable chin guard .
Looking at the bell super 3 .
any others ?
Giro switchblade
I have one and it’s a well made lid
bit more sturdy than the bell super
I have the switchblade and it’s spot on. I don’t bother taking the chinguard off as it is plenty breathable imho. I haven’t used it in the summer yet though.
I also have a Met parachute which is realy breathable which I have used when it was warm and it was fine.
Leatt DBX 3.0.
It actually looks.normal without the chin guard which makes it one of a kind.
I found the switchblade great with the chinguard on but not so clever with it off. I didnt like that it covers my ears and makes it hot to ride in as a trail lid
anyone seen good prices on a full face helmet with removable chin piece
i'm after a 58cm (so medium or large)
it seems merlin cycles are on the money for the giro and bell
Just got a Bell Super DH from ribblecycles for £112.50
anyone seen the Bell Super DH (L) in black for a decent price?
It gets very hot here so need something with good vents.
Now,you've got me worried.
Bell super 3 still favourite. Not enough vents on Giro.
But chinguard says compatible with super 2 and 3R. Don't see the super 3 mentioned.
In description of 3R it says you can add chinguard.
I ll ask the shop but can anyone confirm they are compatible.
I recently got a 3r. If between sizes it’s definitely worth trying both.
Medium was best fit without guard but with the guard was super tight.
Went for the large in the end, but do have to ratchet it up.

I picked one of these up this morning and have spent the day in it with the guard on, very comfy & light. Haven't used it in anger with the chin guard off but fit seems good.
Pretty happy with it

Hideous as a full face though.

Be prepared to either get out and try them on or send them back, very different fits especially around the size boundaries, so probably eliminate the ones don't fit first!!
Hideous as a full face though.
Not really. Especially not in the black or grey.
Medium was best fit without guard but with the guard was super tight.
The cheek pads have a removable higher density foam pad to tune the fit. Medium with these pads removed is a good fit for me. There is a velcro closure on the cheek pads to access these.
Dont really like the look of that Leatt .
Bell still favourite .
Not really. Especially not in the black or grey.
I went for the red, because why not.
Worked just as well today without the guard on. It's easier to take on and off Vs the Bell too.

Mines one of the multicoloured older models. The plainer ones look better FF and certainly comparable though.
