My 661 Recon has just had its life cut short by a tree.

Any recommendations of what is good?

Giro Feature, Bell Super, Mavic Notch, POC, Urge, Any others?

Are POC and Urge worth the extra dosh?

I've just got a Bell Super and am really pleased with it so far.

Previously I had an a Urge Enduromatic which I really liked but it's a few years old now, stinks has been crashed and dropped a few times. I always found it really comfy if a tad warm. The Bell fits me much better though, even with the straps undone it feels really secure.

The IXS Trail RS fitted well but I couldn't get it in my preferred colour and size.

I like my bell super.
One little niggle. The forehead pad is segmented to increase airflow. While this is good, when you do sweat a lot in very hot climates,I found the sweat channels down between the pads and finds your eyes. A buff sorts it on those rare occasions that it's so hot.
Great lid otherwise.

Probably the one that fits you best!

I've tried most on the list you mention - the one i've settled on despite it's 'special' looks is the TLD A1. I feels like a bigger coverage version of my previous best fitting helmet - the Giro Xen.

Try them on and get the best fit. I bought a Feature after doing that as the POC was meant for someone with a distinctly different shape bonce to mine.

Feature is warmer but less bulbous than the Xen it replaced. Perfectly happy with it. I do have a Spesh D2 for warmer days though.

Bell Super here.

Very pleased with it - the Go-Pro mount is very neat! 🙂

As above, best trying a few on......

I tried the TLD A1 on and of all of the helmets I tried was the most comfortable but was a bit too pricey and I found the looks a bit challenging.

I think I'm quite lucky because a lot of helmets seem to fit; I've traditionally got on well with Giro helmets, the Urge fitted pretty well as did the IXS. The only brand that don't fit me well is Specialized.

I do agree about the sweat in the eyes with the Super but that may be because I'm used to the Urge which soaked up loads of sweat.

Definitely try as many on as possible, I tried all the ones you've listed but none of them fit very well.

I'm in the same boat as Hob Nob, despite it's 'special' looks I settled for an A1 as well, it really is comfortable. I went with the drone grey colour, that isn't quite as 'special'

As soon as I tried on the Giro Feature it was the one for me. Can get quite warm on the climbs but once you pick up speed the air channels work a treat. Only paid 35 notes for it aswell.Bargin !! Best advice is to try them on if you can you'll know as soon as it goes on your head if it's gonna fit well.
