Will be looking for a new hardtail in the next month or two to replace my whyte 629 which I've just sold. It was a good bike but want something a bit more playful for around the £1000 mark. Be used for local rides and occasional short commute to work. Already have a orange gyro so like the idea of swapping bits/interchangeable with the hardtail so 29er would be good. Was thinking of a kona taro. Anyone have any experience of these or something else that fits the bill?

There's a Bird for your budget which you might consider suitable.

On One Parkwood £999 bit slacker, shorter CS's , should be just the job, or one of the Pinnacle Ramin series which are similar to that

Zealous Division. Very playful and fun 29er hardtail. I love mine.

+1 Parkwood, very playful and surprisingly good climber for the slacker angles.

Anything else? Should I start looking at 650b? Orange crush/bird/whyte 901/commencal?
