You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So my old faithful Scandal 29er is no longer ticking my 29er Hardtail boxes. Nothing wrong with it, but it's just too XC for what I ride these days.
To replace it I am looking for a 29er Boost hardtail frame that I can take a 150mm Fox 34 I have spare. Can be either steel or Alu and needs to okay to pedal around.
List so far is:
Cotic Bfe.
So what else can people recommed?

You'll be a while waiting for a Bfe, they sold out super quick. Hello Dave could fit the bill, if you want slaaaack
I have a 29er Boost custom 2019 Orange Crush in the classifieds if that's of interest. I liked it. Had a P7 also and preferred the Crush, the resultant build was way lighter!
For the sake of a rim swap on the rear, how about getting right in trend with Mullet Cycles?
I'm pretty sure it's a Ti frame, but there's an alu one about to drop.
Pipedream Moxie
Second for the pipedream, adjustable chainstays is the lick imo
Bird Zero 29?
Pace 529 is what I was going for when planning a build like yours. Looks like they've got some more stock too. Plenty of positive reviews about:

Chromag Rootdown?
Marino?
Commencal meta HT AM?

Just taken delivery of a Moxie. Not had chance to ride it yet as I'm waiting for brakes and groupset. The guys at Pipedream have been brilliant from the start. Would recommend on that basis alone.
Hello Dave would be my shout too - think they have stock?
Pole Taival would be the other recommendation - mate just bought one, it is f'ing brilliant!

Having owned a Pole Taival for a year last week, I fully concur with that statement.
Banshee Paradox V3, bought around 6months ago now to replace an ageing OnOne Inbred, set up with 140mm Fox 34s and couldn't be happier. Worth a look!
Assuming your old Scandal is the old version then why not the new version and just drop the forks to 130mm.
65 degree HA is pretty slack, could reduce further by dropping your forks to 140mm.

Ragley Big Al/Wig is what I'm aiming for with the same requirements. Should be back in stock soon...
So far the Ragley Big Al seems to be on the money, given I brought my Scandal for £150 new and that's kinda part of the charm. Don't get me wrong all the others look lush (Pipedream Moxie, if money allowed), but price is sadly a factor. If I knew more about bike geo I would be tempted with a Marino but to much choice for my simple mind.
Have to sk why you not looking at the new gen scandle that’s effectively In the hardcore hardtail category now!
65 ish head angle 120/140 fork travel dropper compatible etc and sensibley priced.
What is your budget for the new frame? You can always purchase the frame only, using a cycle to work scheme.
@poltheball if it's the bigwig you're wanting rather than the Big Al, you'll be waiting until January for the 2021 models according to Hotlines because there aren't any more 2020 models coming in.
Cheers @golfchick, was going to pick up a Big Al I think if budget/wife allows.
New Kona Honzo looks decent.
second on the banshee paradox
i`ve a dartmoor primal and it handles everything really well including blacks/ reds at BPW (to give you an idea of what iev ridden)
and its cheap.
being alu it not very 'compliant' so i run a DH casing rear tyre.
If you’re on a budget I’d look no further than a scandal. I went through all this recently and nearly bought a big dog until I got a cheap s/h last fast forward.
On one hello Dave. I’ve got one of the earlier ones made for a previous company. One year in and it’s been ace at every thing
In the usual spirit of recommending what you own, the NS Eccentric Alu Evo is worth a look.
As with everything at the moment though, you might struggle to track one down 🙁
