I appear to have lost my gloves and after my attempts at riding the blue descent at Fort Bill without gloves today, I'm after some new ones but with a bit of padding.
I don't like thick gloves, so ideally they are nice and thin but have a couple of pads on palms and maybe some grip tape on index finger for breaking.
Was a great track but I'm seriously out of practice as I got rattled senseless, so I'm needing to get more biking done.
Lack of gloves had my hands seriously sore from the deathgrip - caused largely due to my lack of skill but also due to sweaty hands and not being able to keep hold of the grip without vice-like pressure.
What are others using that are thin but with a bit of padding on palms?
Fox Ranger Gel here, seem to work well for me,also available without gel padding, so don't get caught out.
As well as I’m sure a lack of skill may be part of it, it could also be general bike fitness. If you look in fit4racing’s Insta he has some great short videos for exercises to help stop armpump and other bike specific exercises 👍
I find my 50/01 grips are great as give a bit of sponge, as they’re ribbed “for my pleasure” 🤣 but my Dakine gloves have no padding and don’t usually have issues so worth looking into maybe?
Lack of skills and lack of fitness are definite contributors. My arms actually felt fine all day, was just my hands that were beaten up - cramps and numbness, so I think a bit of padding will definitely help (as well as create a barrier for my sweating hands).
Decided I need to sort.my fitness out so already out for a morning pedal...muggy and the sweat is dripping off my hands already!
(Stopped to try to let them dry a bit!)

I always use Specialized gel gloves when going somewhere super lumpy (e.g. just had a full week of Morzine). They make a huge difference. Use gloves with no padding at all normally.
