How about a Spesh Camber? Really good all rounder for UK trails.
Giant Reign or Trance, perhaps?

Depends what you really want it to do!

stanfree - think we met on some east lothian rides last year - can't remember how tall you are but i've got a 2011 pitch pro if you want to try it out. email if you do as i'll forget to check back here!

as CF says it really depends what kind of FS you want - but for something which can handle easy DH (inners etc) and XC i reckon the pitch is amazing value

I've not ridden the new Boardman but it looks blimmin amazing. Pitch is quite a specialised tool, it'll go up and along if you ask it nicely but really it wants to go down faster than is sensible

Thanks for your views folks , Stuart was your Pitch your replacement for your Santa Cruz?. To be honest Im no downhill god so the stuff at Inners XC would be probably be as rough as It gets . There was a good deal on a old Spicy model which looks great but seems kinda heavy at 35 lbs. Was out with GW the other night and he mentioned Specialised are very good with warrantys not sure about Lapierres warranty. Its goin to be a couple of weeks till I make my mind up

What about the Saracen Ariel? You'd have to put up with UR BIK IZ SARCIN comments on here of course.

I love my Pitch and use it for everything but it's not a very sensible bike.

I have a Pitch and love it but from your description of what type of riding you do, regardless of how good value the Pitch is it will be too much bike for you. If i was in your position i'd be looking for a demo on a Camber, Giants Trance could be another sensible option.

How about this for £899 and go self build? You could probably get yourself all the bits for £600 or so...

both my heckler and sunday were stolen but i only wanted to buy one bike for now so the pitch was kind of a replacement for both.

i tested a spicy 316 but it felt a bit too much bike ... and was about £750 more than the pitch.

cannondale RZ from pauls cycles was one i considered but couldn't find any to ride and couldn't find many decent reviews,

canyon and cube are definitely worth a look too although i would look second hand unless you need to buy new.

i'm currently selling a small heckler (on behalf of a friend) but would imagine it's way too small for you. what height are you?

I just got a Pitch Pro for £1400, it's not an XC bike, on the other hand I just did 25 miles on it and didn't die.

If anyone is looking to test ride one of the cannondale's rz, Cadence in Bath has them as test bikes. At least the one twenty, but fairly sure they have a one fourty also.

Would people say the extra 180 quid between a nerve 5 and 6 is worth it for the step up between recons and rebas and juicy 3s to elixir 5s? I haven't ridden either of the forks, so advice would be greatly appreciated. And the fox 120rls and full x9 on the next one up at an extra £240 again, any value there? Do prefer sram for literally no reason at all...
