I've got a brand new Cotic Soul frame and at the moment there's paint in the frame where you screw in the bottom bracket and obviously the bottom bracket won't screw in whilst there is paint there.

Is it simply the case of getting some paint remover in there or do I have to take it to my lbs to allow them to do it professionally?

Cheers Mosey.

Did you bother with having it faced?

I didn't with my BFE as it was paint free on the edge.

To be honest I've never has a BB shell faced, touch wood, and I've never had a problem.

I know people recommend it but I've not seen the need.

Ouch. If you really don't want to get it done properly, use a sharp penknife or a pick to clean out the threads.

Really? I've used a fine wet and dry paper after advice from my LBS, didn't do any harm and sorted the paint.

I've used a Stanley blade too mind, both worked fine.

Trouble is, how do you guarantee you're sanding away only paint and not the metal of the threads?

Can I ask where you got the frame from?
As normally Cotic will do all that before sending it direct and if you got it from a shop they should a lest prep the frame for you.

Get the frame prepared properly - you spent a lot on it, don't muck it up!

I have never done any of that and only ever had a problem with one frame. Having said that, if you have paint on the threads you need to remove it before attempting to fit the bb.

The frame came direct from Cotic; I didn't pay the extra to have them install a Hope BB.

Should they have prepped the frame?

Yes, headset and BB should be faced.
Some paint may still be in the threads, but nothing that stops the BB threading in.
Drop them an email to query it I reckon...

No, because the frame is dip prepped as a primer so it's coated on the inside anyway.

Hope you've got it sorted. If not, drop me a line.
