Just musing over a new carbon frame but its pf30. Been out of the loop on tech stuff for a while so no idea what to look for. What would be the best if starting from scratch ( new cranks/adapters etc) Or find a frame with threaded?
I put a Chris King one in when the original pf30 went bang, it's been flawless.
Been using normal cranks and bb bearings in a pf30 adapter on my spesh for about 5 years with no problems.
Oddly the pf30 to std bb adapter came with the frame. Like "we made this great new thing and here's some stuff so you can change it back to the old thing"
Was looking at Chris King website earlier and their pf30 is no longer in production. Do they do an alternative? Hope seems to have a solution.
The Hope one is just as good as the King. Mine has been perfect for 3 years so far.
I got an xt PF30 because it was cheap. 3 months in, time will tell if it lasts, although the old slx lasted over a year.
A mate had endless problems with the stock one on his jeffsy. He's gone to the hope one and had no complaints.
Another happy Hope user. Mine unusually (?) ate some bearings at very low mileage, second set much better.
In run the version that converts to 24mm Shimano axle.
I've used a Praxxis BB30-HT2 with no problems in 3 years
Or get a EBB, loads of people make them now.

Shimano don't make PF30 bbs.
Girlfriend running the Hope PF46-30 thread-together unit with a Rafeface Turbine 30mm chainset for a couple years - no problems so far.
