So my Smokestone bow-ti fatbike has been getting far too much abuse over the last few months, and after snapping some carbon saddle rails at windhill, & snapping a stem and cracking a carbon rim at BPW a couple of weeks back I decided to n+1 a more suitable bike for the appropriate trails and abuse and retain the fat bike for Xc duties.....
So this turned up in the post today:

Spec list should be along the lines of:
Pike ultimate
Bike yolke stem
77designz carbon bar (35mm rise)
Magura MT5 or 7's
GX AXS
Garbaruk cassette
Slx cranks
Brand X Dropper
Saddle I've not decided on yet.
Wheels xt rear hub on nextie rims (front hub undecided).
continental kryptotal f/r
Congratulations!!!!
Alloy occam? What's the shock? Looks unusual.
alloy H30, the shock is a standard (for the H30 ) fox DPS that the previous owner had polished up, but also gave me the excuse for going for some silver pike ultimate forks to sort of match - I had my eye on some cheap Yari's on CRC but they sold out after I purchased the frame on eBay.
also i'm longer going for brand X Dropper, thought I'd take a chance on the £70 Limotec crc have on sale.
Right all items purchased, well, apart from those annoying ones you realise you need when building.
Spec is going to be....
Fork pike ultimate
Stem Bike Yolk
Bar 77designz 30mm
Grips odi dreadlock
Brakes Magura MT5 with one finger levers, slx discs
Gears SRAM GX AXS Inc chain
Cassette Garbaruk
Chainset SLX
Seatpost Limotec alpha 1 (was going to be brand X, but this was dirt cheap at crc
Saddle Nukeproof
Wheels xt rear hub, slx front, nextie am35 carbon rims
Tyres continental Kryptotal / Argotal Enduro casings soft
Well parts are slowly arriving (forks later on today)
And the slx bits match the frame paint nicely which is a bonus.
Not sure if I'll keep the cheap dropper very long as I could really do with a 200mm drop rather than the 125 (BB to rail hight is set to match my other bikes).

I like the repair stand placement! It should end up pretty light with that spec
Not sure if I'll use my posh bar/stem combo or go with a more budget Ali set up tbh (brandx / nukeproof) - this is much more of a park / shuttle bike for me so the Ali stuff will be fine and my lighter stuff may stay on my lightweight fat bike where it's got more use.

Glad I stumbled across this. I am just about to do the same but with an 18 Bikes No.9 I have gone for the Garbaruk cassette like you, and chosen 10/52 microspline. What did you choose and did that drive your decision for a SRAM mech?
Luckily I've a spare HG garbaruk cassette that came off a set of 29r wheels I had on my fat bike.
The axs mech choice is because I've got x0 axs on another bike and it's been super reliable and dependable.... that is until Wednesday night this week when I went racing and I'd forgotten to charge it for months 😂.
Ahhh OK. I have always been a Shimano person but struggling to find parts at a price I am happy with has got me trying to expand my field by including SRAM. Also, despite the Garbarauk website saying the 10/52 is compatible with Shim XT the Shimano website says it only goes to 51! Maybe I need to go to the SRAM set up

So the wheels are temp, but she's built. I've even managed a shake down ride at Windhill on Saturday and 3rd run in destroyed the left slx crank arm 😂 completely my fault as it was the first thing I fitted and didn't torque up the pinch bolts ! But that's what shale down rides are for right 😝
Three trips to windhill and it's pretty dialed in now, but I managed to get the carbon wheels on last night with the new conti tyres. They look like freekin massive MotoX tyres in comparison to the Vittoria's I had on there....
Off to BPW Monday to try them out
The complete build not including the bits I already had (cassette, pedals, grips and rims), came out at around £1600. Paid mainly out of old spares I had in the garage.
