Had my Orange Evo4(19") for 7 years, been a great bike. Fancy new forks to bring her into the modern age and may also convert to 1x9! Has a Manitou Splice Comp 130mm, head angle is 70 if that makes much difference. http://www.teammbm.co.uk/contacts/StuartsBike.htm
How much do I need to spend to improve over what it has? Do I have to stick with 130mm? I ride Chopwell, Edmundbyers and the odd trip to Innerleithen/Glentress.
Cheers.

I'd probably take a look at replacing the Splice forks for Sektors coil u turns or Sektor solo airs spaced at 130 mm travel for around £350 new, I wouldn't personally go longer than 140mm though on a seven old old aluminium frame, depends what you want though

The issue you have is that manufacturers have changed many standard dimensions for the steerer and the brake mounts. You'll need a fork with a 1 1/8" steerer though which may rule out the latest revelation forks (nearer £500) which tend to have tapered steerers, and many newer forks have post mount brake! But I think manitou forks of that age also used this standard by that photograph. Can't tell if it has a 20mm axle or 9mm quick release though.

If your budget is smaller than £400 fitted have a look at the rockshox recon 120mm or manitou circus 130mm fork or the secondhand sales

Cheers Chunky,
Never thought about the compatability! It is post mount and quick release. I'll take a look at your suggestions.

So many types of the same fork! Is this the one? Guess I can wind it down to 130mm? I'm 13 and a half stone, so guess coil os better for me than air?
