Last year I bought a Bird Aeris 120 frame and swapped the parts over from my Whyte 901. Ive been slowly changing/upgrading the parts. Next on my list is the forks. I'm quite well up with bike parts generally but I feel I'm going around in circles.

I need 140mm, 27.5, tapered steerer, currently have a non boost front wheel but after looking online are all new forks boost? If so I can sort out a wheel too.

Anyone seen any good deals?

I've seen these...
2017 pikes 130mm
Can they be easily changed to 140mm?

Or these...
2019 pikes 140mm £550

Anything else I should be looking at? Anything I should avoid? Help! Please.

Just get a boost spacer kit for about a tenner off ebay.

I got a mt zoom set and it works a treat.

Experts? Yep the forum is full of them 😉
Yes you can swap travel on 2017 pikes by swapping the air shaft maybe able to get a debonair upgrade one too, or one of the other systems that increase the negative air chamber volume ( smoother initial movement) luftkappe etc.

I've just read the description of the CRC 2019 one. And realised is has oneloc. This is a remote lock out? If so I dont think I'd ever use it and would clutter the bars. Can it be removed easily? Google suggests yes, no, it's easy and its difficult to do.

So let's say I get the 2017 I'd need a 140mm air shaft like This and then whilst I've got the fork apart I could stick in a luftkappe? How would this then compare to a 2018/19 model? Will I notice a difference?

This is what I mean it's a nightmare!

These things used to be so simple, then ‘Standards’ were Introduced to make things even easier.

It's so confusing most of the descriptions I read on the websites of the places selling them contradict themselves...

Go for crown adjust it’s a lot less faffy.
Your lbs may be able to do a deal on some forks/ price match if they talk to the distributor & advise & fit all parts to save you the confusion/hassle.

Have a look at some x fusion forks.

Upgrade bikes have a pair slants 27.5 non boost forks will set them at the correct travel prior to dispatch for no extra.
