Following a thread I made the other week about my LBS screwing up my Lyrik's during a service (come to the conclusion that after oil leaking out of the adjustment dial and a knocking sound that wasn't present prior to the service they have either messed something up or have disturbed a problem that was already there, but I find that all too convenient) I'm looking at getting a new fork rather than replacing the damper which still might not resolve it.
I have a Santa Cruz Nomad 4, Current fork is Lyric 170mm RCT solo air. I believe the wheel is a boost size 15x110. Would a 2021 Fox 38 fork fit like for like with my hub/wheel or will I need to get a specific size? It seems to come with a Kabolt but I'm not sure if that will be compatible with my wheel? Not to mention the different offset's the fork has. Hopeless with all these standards and sizing choices.

I’d send the Lyrik to someone competent like TF Tuned to sort it out.
With the Fox 38 you’ll need to check if your hub has Torque Caps and it so, if they can be swapped for normal 15mm axle thingies.
Thanks, so even if my current QR is 15x110 I'll need Torque Caps? Can I convert my current hub or will I need to buy a new hub too?
Your current hub might have torque caps, which only work on Rock Shox forks. A lot of hubs are easily converted, just swap the end caps for standard ones. Guessing you might have Hope hubs, which is a really easy swap.
Sadly not ha. Got a hope at the back but still riding my standard hub up front that came on the bike. Some terrible novatec hub. Not sure I can justify a new hub and a new fork 🙁
If it's torque can, it will fit snugly in the Lyrik dropouts. If not, there'ss about 3mm of space around the end cap. Pic below shows a RockShox fork with a stick on adapter for non torque cap hubs, about that much space
And check your hub end caps, a lot of novatec hubs use torque caps that can be removed, which completely defeats the idea ironically!

Post a pic of your hub end cap.
Alternative end caps may be easy to source, or may be like gold dust. Depends.
Nothing wrong with Novatec front hubs IME, it's certain rear ones you have to watch out for.
Did you consider the RS Zeb instead? It's great, it's cheaper and it'll work with your hub whether it has torque caps or normal 15x110mm ones.
Ha I know that all too well having warrantied my rear hub once and the replacement also broke so went hope. Front one has been surprisingly good.
I’ve not actually thought about the Zeb, I wanted to avoid Rockshox but it does seem a very good option. Most of the fox options seem out of stock and silverfish don’t anticipate 2022 models to drop until June 🙁
I may very well look in to the Zeb now you’ve said. Thanks. However my current fork is 170 and most I can find online for a reasonable price are in 180. I do enjoy climbing (as well as bike park days and rough trails) however not sure how much it would affect the ride and position
With 170mm rear travel, I'd have said 180mm was the optimum for the front anyway.
Got my Zeb Ultimate for a very good price from Starbike last year (a bit over £700), but if you're in the UK then buying from Germany has got a bit more awkward and pricey now.
It's a much, much better fork than the Lyrik for that kind of bike, IMO.
It sounds like we had the same rear Novatec hubs - I also had two that decided to eat themselves.
Yeah it's a shame Brexit and import costs will push them up as a few of the German shops online seem to have them in stock at 170mm. I do a lot of climbing so I'm not sure how much I would be affected by an increase of 10mm. Managed to find them in stock in TF Tuned but would have ideally liked to buy them on 0% finance.
Ha less than desirable rear hubs, it's no surprise that Santa Cruz ditched them on their specs shortly after me purchasing the bike.
