Off to visit my old man this weekend in brockenhurst in the new forest.

Has anyone a recommended route for a Sunday blast from around there?

NF is fairly limited to strict paths you can ride on if you mean off-road. On road you'll face the wrath of the nimbys who hate anyone on two wheels daring to ride there. Off road on the paths you just have your way blocked by ponies who seem to take quite a liking to inspecting bikes 😀

on road - loads of good stuff though relatively little climbing. I'd go northish up the rhinefield drive and up past bolderwood. How far do you want to go ?

off road - as said, majority of the forest has no bike access and the official routes will break your heart. It's very dry and lovely just now though, if you should become lost ...

You need to get out early if you like to ride fast (and there is no other sort of riding in the forest as the terrain has no challenges to it)

Any later than ten and the ride is usually ruined by ramblers spanning the full width of the track, families with kids on bikes or dog walkers with dogs of the lead.

Don't worry about no bike access - I have lived in Forest for 14 years and never come across anyone who challenged where I was riding.

From Brockenhurst just ride towards Bolderwood, across to Burley etc,. and take any off road routes you can find. They are a good number of them.
