I have a 2017 habit se, and it’s still on the original cassette (10-42), chainring, derailleur and shifter. A few chains gone through but it’s served me well. Aside from cranks and chainring (30t), which are Cannondale specific and have their own standard (obviously) it’s all Sram x1 11 speed.
Come the better weather, however, it’s probably due for renewal and I wondered about a few select parts, initially thinking of a Garbaruk 11speed 10-46 to get a bit more low end. The derailleur range as it is should be ok according to Garbaruk but the jockey wheels, linkages are probably a bit tired by now and any slack in there will probably hurt shifting crispness.
The I saw the cassette price, nudging £200….. so that might be a non-starter.
Would eagle be the better bet, just start from scratch, all new? A few decent eagle deals have come up recently but I’m sort of keen to keep the decent X1 stuff. Or should I consign it all to the parts bin and go Gx eagle?
Calder Valley, so it’s steep everywhere.

So is a GX Eagle cassette normally... There's oversupply of them at the moment, hence they're cheap most places, but it's only temporary as they were out of stock everywhere most of the time for the last 2 1/2 years.
This could be another option though... https://www.merlincycles.com/sunrace-mx9-xd-cassette-11-speed-148542.html?utm_source=PHG&source=PHG&utm_medium=Affiliates&utm_campaign=genieshopping
Personally I was always of the opinion that 11spd SRAM X1/X01/XX1 was fantastic kit, just slightly lacking in range for the cassette... Should have been 10-46 ages ago in reality.
Eagle is superb though, but worth an upgrade to an X01 shifter over the GX...
The choice is yours as they say!
If 10-46 is sufficient I’d be tempted to pick up that Sunrace 10-46 cassette as it’s a lot cheaper than the Gabaruk one.
All you’d need then is new chain / chainring (guessing you need a spidering for Cannondale) and perhaps change the jockey wheels if they’re knackered. On 11 speed the sram nx jockeys have bushes which can last better than the more expensive bearing jockeys on GX upwards.
If you go GX eagle then it’s a new shifter and mech (mech is pricey) plus a more expensive cassette. I find xx1 chains last a lot better than say a GX or lower chain too. Doesn’t rust and doesn’t stretch as quickly.
On 11 speed I always thought the x1 chain was a sweet spot of cost vs durability. Cheaper ones rusted too easily.
GX / XG-1150 cassettes are €65 at r2-bike - I got two delivered for £122 last week with nothing extra to pay. I'm running a 28t chainring rather than the 30t I used when I had 11-46t Shimano cassettes and still have a wider range overall.

/blockquote>I have these on all my MTBs, they are really durable and shift well enough with my Shimano 11sp mech and shifter.
If you feel your mech is getting tired and sloppy, I'd consider flogging your shifter and changing to Shimano 11sp. Cheaper, more durable and designed for at least 46t.
That cassette offer at R2 is the same one that was fitted from stock and has lasted me very well! Maybe that, new chain, jockey wheels and a 28t chainring for bottom end. The X1 kit has been great, testament that it’s still on after five plus years.
Airdrop do have a complete GX group set for £399. That seems a good price, for the Uk.
It’s an XD driver I have.
Looking for 28t chainrings, this boost/offset malarkey is confusing. Absolute black do a 28tooth Cannondale direct mount, the description says it is for 47-52 chain line at 3.7mm offset. The 3.7 isn’t a measurement of the “concavity” is it? The chainring I have is around 6mm from the mounting face to the tips of the teeth?
Sram boost rings had a 3mm offset, versus 6mm for non boost, so it was kind of measures as offset from the crank/mounting point
r2-bike may have you covered again - https://r2-bike.com/Chainrings-for-Direct-Mount__28-Teeth__Direct-Mount-Cannondale_1
Garbaruk one is 4,6 mm offset in 28t and is on sale
Thanks George, I’ll maybe look at them closer.
I’m on a 142mm rear hub, so non-boost I assume.
Edit, just had a quick measure up, it looks to be around 12mm from the mounting face to the centre line of the teeth…not sure if that helps me get the right one or not.
This (first 2 images) sort of explains it. at least for SRAM-style stuff, the boost rings had 3mm less offet, so end up at 52mm chainline
Non boost had the larger offset, so end up at 49mm chainline.
The ring above seems to split the difference 🙂

Thanks for the post George, but I’m not sure I’m any clearer what ring I need as none seem to anywhere near the same offset and I don’t want to screw up the chain line. This must be Cannondale again, with their universal standards!
I’ve sent an email enquiry to Garbaruk, see if they can add some knowledge to what might work.
