I see we now have a new type of bike being coined by Canyon the "super enduro".
I looks like it would be real fun but a torture to climb.
Do we really need another niche?
Not so much a niche, Just a different point on the continuum.
Super enduro has been around for a while now, grandad... popular on the continent evidently, where they have proper mountains
New downhill niche by Canyon
The "new" niche: a freeride bike?
You talk about the Torque 2018?
175mm rear, 180mm front seemingly.
yes - this bike will have around 180/180 travel.
around 14 kg (carbon)
Looks nice!
😉
But from 2018 on only as plastic bike? Price tag will be high I guess.
No idea if they plan an aluminium version.
isn't this just a park bike/mini dh bike but with single crown forks instead of double crown?
Love that colurscheme mind..
So the extra 5mm over the 2018 nomad makes it a new new niche?
'Alps bike'?
"fun bike"?
Really not a new thing anyway. Or do they do it as a 29er?
Or do they do it as a 29er?
not sure.
Sounds like 27.5 inch only.
175 mm rear: Canyon missed a chance to put a nice coil shock in...
😯
Radon brought the "superenduro" Swoop 170 out in 2016.
Probably not the first time the term had been coined though. Fab bike.

Yes.
And from 2018 Radon has the Swoop as plastic version as well availiable:
think it's called "Jab".
But no idea if the Canyon Torque is comparable to the Radon Jab.
I remeber that Radon tried to get under 10 kg with the Jab (which sounds a bit extreme)?
😯
Nomad
Commencal Supreme Sx
Propain Spindrift
We used to call them mini Dh 'backintday'
And from 2018 Radon has the Swoop as plastic version as well availiable:
160mm rear travel and different geometry on the Jab, not really a carbon version of the Swoop.
Dunno if I'd say it was a Freeride bike even if it does have the same travel as those bikes did. As a niche surely it's the same as the original Specialized SX Trail (an enduro with a bit more travel and a bit slacker). Freeride bikes tended to be shorter than DH bikes to make them more maneuverable, whereas enduro bikes have gotten significantly longer reach than DH bikes as they don't necessarily need to be as fast down such steep tracks but longer bikes are quicker on shallower gradients.
DH Lite? UK Downhill Bike? Enduro Plus? Extra Travel for Tubby Blokes?
I like it, although prefer ally to carbon. (Ally is nice in orange)
The Pole machine is 29” 180mm front and rear.
Such a new niche!
“FREERIDE, 2/2011
According to the slogan "we can do everything", Freeride magazine tested 13 super enduro bikes - and what was the best mark given in the test? - 9.5 for the Torque 7.0 Trailflow.”
Unless this thread was started seven years ago?
One of my mates bought the previous Canyon Torque years ago. 180mm-ish with single crown forks.
Hi guys, yea it's a really nice bike. Don't think I would like to pedal it up a hill though
The price seems reasonable enough.
Thanks for the education on the history of super enduro too guys. I only took up this hobby 2 years ago.
