Looks like CRC have updated their Prime road wheelsets to a new v3

I’ve been looking at disc Hunt 50mm and Cero RC50s but the CRC ones are a bit cheaper

Does anyone have any thoughts on the CRC ones? Obviously recognising no one will have ridden them yet!

Main thing for me is the ability to transfer to a new frame. I’m currently running 100/135qr but a new frame will obviously be bolt through.

They’ll be a good deal when they’re inevitably 40% off

I have the older prime r020 rear hub, its a novatec so spares are everywhere and axles for thru or QR (inc from hunt who use the same hubs)

The new one from your link is a novatec hub too (can see ABG on freehub - thats novatec anti bite guard) so you will be good to go for hub spares

when buying axles be sure to buy ones that match disc mount - 6 bolt more common than centre lock axles they are different.

I can’t see the point of them at the current price point the Prime black edition are better in every way and 150gm lighter using the 38mm rim brake version as an example. The prime black edition are normally priced at the same £599 unless they’ve put them up now to make space for these.

I have the prime blacks in 50mm and they are great for the money.

They just punted out the last Blackedition wheelsets in 28 and 38, I got one of the last pairs of 28 for £500.

Might have preferred 38, but they were all gone.

The V3 are notably heavier in disc version, so perhaps there will be a new premium model too?

I nearly bought a set of the Blacks but went for JRA Mahi Mahi disc instead. Bit wider and and lighter and not much more money. Plus few more options for customisation. Only ridden once but very impressed and JRA are great to deal with, rims delayed due to coronovirus and they offered me a test set to have if I wanted.

OOps..just bought a pair of 38mm disc v2 for £409... plus £20 for a pair of rotor adaptors...

Should make the Tripster look lush..AAAND would prob work OK as gravel wheels too....

Hmm..might think about rebuilding the front wheel with a dyno hub though... Hmm...

Me! Got a set of 50mm V2 discs on the “summer” bike.

Ok weight wise, lighter out there but more ££
Had them about a year now, think I paid £450 with wiggle discount (was increased at the time so seemed rude not to use it!)

As above - novatec hubs so spares easy to find, and tubeless setup a doddle with tesa tape and some of the lifeline long valves.

OOps..just bought a pair of 38mm disc v2 for £409… plus £20 for a pair of rotor adaptors…

I’m tempted by a pair for the other bike - or just a second set for the summer bike!

Thanks,

A

iirc V2 was 16.5mm internal, so a bit dated, V3 is 19mm

AAAND would prob work OK as gravel wheels too….

A bit of a lightbulb situation with a decent sized tyre

I’ve got a set of 38 Black Edition - been spot on for over a year and 6k miles.

Just upgrading to Sram AXS Red and need an XDR freehub. If they are novatec hubs does anyone know where I can get an XDR freehub as the prime version is always sold out?
