After many more pedal strikes this weekend I need to get rid of my 175mm cranks for something shorter and am after a bit of advice.
I have a 2 X 10 setup as I like to have a granny ring. To stop the chain coming off too much I've got a SLX M665 Double Chainset with a bashring. Bike has a 73mm BB shell. I could just get a shorter version of the SLX cranks, but fancy maybe lightening things up and getting some carbon cranks, especially if I can find a deal.
The cranks I'm looking at are 2013 Race face Next SL and SRAM XO 10 speed. Does anyone please know, will these fit on my current Shimano BB or do I need to get a new BB?
Also there doesn't seem to be too much non-shimano with a bash ring. So I'm looking at also getting an e13 TRS+ chain guide. Has anyone had any experience of running these?
Thank you - find all these BB standards very confusing!
I think the 2013 Next SL's fit in a standard Shimano BB, the later ones are much thicker.
The Next SL also has a removable spider so you can tit 1x direct, 1x spider, 2x spider and 3x so you can fit a bash if you need to.
Thank you Mike - if I can fit a bashguard that will less faff I'm sure.
In fact I made a mistake, it's not the Next SL, it's just the Race Face Next 2013:

Is that the same do you think? The spider doesn't look removable as far as I can see.....but I could well be wrong
Well that wouldn't work, that looks to be the normal fixed spider and no bash guard on that one.
