Added seatpost insertion is a good thing.

Of course I do, having almost a full set I'll need it to complete the collection. The name though, where the hell has that come from? Should have have called it a Flocket 🙂

I literally just got a FlareMax! I blame kelvin entirely.

It's a palindrome.

It does look nice and my G2 FlareMAX is ace. I'd sort of decided I wanted a Starling providing I like the single pivot but now I'm not so sure.

Is it a replacement for the FlareMax, the Rocket or it's own thing?

Flare -> Flare Max -> Jeht -> Rocket -> RocketMax ?

Not fair. There's a lot of Richard in the look and name of this one... and Cy has been working for a long time on the new geometry and suspension layout for this one for a long long time... blame them both before me please.

Is it a replacement for the FlareMax, the Rocket or it’s own thing?

It is its own thing. It doesn't replace any of the other models. n+1

I like it but I'd happily wait for the Taiwanese one. Sometimes I'll pay to support UK manufacturing but sometimes I just can't.

It’s a palindrome

Not only that, but it's the same backwards as it is forwards.

Man, I'm loving the afterburner colour.
If only 29'ers weren't dead 😒
Where's the 650?

Anyone want to buy a Rocket 275?

They need to rename the Escapade as the Squib. Looks nice, wonder if this means the next RocketMax can go up in travel slightly.

It’s a palindrome.

So it's a 'J'? That's just as bad.

What's bigger than a Rocket, is Saturn V trademarked?

That's already happened! The new RocketMAX went from 150 to 160mm of rear travel.

So it’s a ‘J’?

The Singletrack news story gave us all a handy earworm to let us now how it's really pronounced...

looks like 2 - one under the downtube and under the top tube for those on a non-piggy back shock

Who puts a water bottle on a trail bike?

trail riding would seem like an application where one is in need of hydration

Depends on the size. And whether UK or Taiwan... IIRC. Some only take 1.

Good point with the bottle.
My medium Rocket will not fit any kind of bottle seemingly.
It's quite annoying.
Bites into my shred time innit.

Looks awesome. Kinda thinking about a new bike next year but are Cotic doing an Orange and making loads of bikes that seem to be very close in what they offer??

Yeah, they should go back to making the Soul and BFe, two totally different steel hardtails with the same geometry.

I don't think the top tube mount is for a bottle cage. Even without a piggyback shock, I doubt a bottle would fit - I reckon that's for tool storage.

The single bottle mount is under the downtube. Which is a shitty place to put it.

Looks good other than that. I'd have mine in Yeti blue.

Heresy! They were quite different. One was a bit spendy, the other was more spendy.

Larger sizes of the FlareMax fit a bottle there.

Very happy with my flare max gen 2 but if this had been available at the time I think i would of gone for it . I assume this means no more flare max132 , speaking of which has anyone modified their flare max to the 132 version ? any different ?

Think they revised out the 132 option with the latest Flaremax, just 125mm now IIRC.

This looks decent, would be an option if I needed a new all-rounder. Good to see some more realistic pricing in there.

No it isn’t, there’s only a cassette on the rear... 🤪

Looks mint, but am I only the one who wishes they'd stuck with the old wraparound downtube decals? I like the new head tube badge, a lot more modern, but not a fan of the new downtube name at all.

but it’s the same backwards as it is forwards.

so its name is "the jeht".

As in:
"is that the rocket?" "no, its the The Jeht"

How is it pronounced in Yorkshire?

I think it looks pretty good, and is certainly an option as a potential replacement for my Gen2 Rocket if i wanted to go full 29er (the RocketMax is too much for me now at 160mm travel). I agree with Chakaping on the pricing aswell, the Taiwan option brings it back down to sensible again.

The TT bottle mount should work with a L or XL for sure, it does on the Rocket anyway.

How is it pronounced in Yorkshire?

ee-jeht! ee-jeht!

Which is the sound I make just before crashing.

I thought it was German for something.

Me.
Running 132 rear and 140 front plus put a -2 headset in.
Brilliant. Safe & stable, perfect for my limited skillset on the steep Valley trails.
The only advantage I could see with the Jeht is that I could get a 200 dropper in rather than just the 170.

And yes, I have a bottle cage on mine but just a small 330ml one, and the rest of the time I use a bag.

I like it but I’d happily wait for the Taiwanese one. Sometimes I’ll pay to support UK manufacturing but sometimes I just can’t.

If you're buying a bike, it's less than 10% more.

@lawman91 you're not but the newer graphics have grown on me since they originally started using them. Still much prefer the old wrap though.

Hate the name but, if I was buying a bike today that'd be in the running. Nice to see more seatpost insertion, that's (imo) something that all long travel bikes should be doing- if you can't fit a proper long dropper in a 2020 bike it's not fit for purpose.

Entirely Taiwan made? (except the launch edition)

Taiwan built frames? Yes. Welded and painted in Taiwan. Bikes are put together in Calver though. And I presume the 853 tubes are still drawn in the UK? Not sure many things are “entirely” made in any one country these days.

Launch edition has swingarms welded in Taiwan, front-ends welded in Scotland, hardware made in England, painted in Scotland, frame put together in Calver.

Was holding out for Orange to release a new stage five. But this looks interesting and ticks a lot of boxes.

Any news on a new five from orange?

I thought the Stage Five was pretty contemporary, and just the 27in Five was due an update.

However neither are on the site at the mo. Wonder if they are gonna merge them as a single 29er model?

On a similar note, is this the first Cotic 29er not to be appended with MAX? Sign of things to come?

good to know , I'm a regular visitor to the valley  and am getting withdrawal symptoms at the moment . Think I will go for it when I get the suspension serviced .

Lad on retrobike that has a Orange selling bike shop reckons there are no plans for a 2021 5 or Stage 5. Glad I got my S5 earlier this year!

Don't care for the Jeht name, sounds daft but it's better than just calling everything MAX! Would like a go on one though.

Wasn't having a poke, just it's a bit of a change from the Five Lands frames/half frames.

I didn’t think you were poking! I think the confusion is because it might look like as if in future everything is coming via FiveLand… it isn’t… it was always the case that “fully Taiwan” frames would keep coming, including this new model. What’s different for this one, is that the main production batch is “fully Taiwan”, but there are also some “uk front end and painted” frames being built… whereas the other models are one or t’other.

Gone all quiet on the Jeht front...

Have they shipped/made it into the wild yet? All the UK frames sold out on the website for a couple days.

And I’ll just leave this here...
