You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Knew they were updating it to be longer, lower and slacker, looks like they've released it. LBS said they'll be getting some in soon, seems to be a quality on-the-button frame.
I've always wanted a Chromag but their prices are too high for what they are
Looks lovely, that. Orange is ace.
Why too expensive made in Canada by the legend Chris Derkerf!!!
Some are Rik some aren't. Same geo but not same welder .Taiwan versus Canadian hand welded. Boost rear and maybe enough clearance for 650 plus. That's a whole lot more interesting than the first model.
BB92 - I'm out...
If you've never owned one Podge then how do you know the price is too high for what they are?
My Samurai65 is the best hardtail I've ever ridden.
Edit, I've just clocked that Iain has copied the colour of my bike for the new rootdown. He commented on mine looking amazing before it was sent over to me last year.
That looks fierce... They kind of need to get their act together on geometry though, I know not everyone cares about that but no reach or wheelbase figures?
I've owned two Chromags and enjoyed them both but I enjoy my current bike more. These are definitely made in Taiwan and weigh 6.5lb(!). I'm sure they'll be good so if you like spending money and branding then go for it.
Blimey! I like the look of that not enough to replace my current Rootdown but still.
Chromags aren't cheap but they're not that expensive either. The Taiwanese frames are £535 over here, thats the same ball park as Ragley and Cotic. They are about £100 less in Canada as you can buy direct from Chromag rather than a Distro.
That being said, I bought mine from Shore Lines and John was ace to deal with.
Their stems are lovely bits of bike bling too and made in Whistler rather than Taiwan too if that matters to you.
Their bars are possibly a bit over priced but the shap is "just right".
I'd love a Surface but I can't justify the made in Canada price tag.

Cotic are posh steel, though- not that this is necessarily better but it's more expensive to build with. And the Ragley probably has about £150 added onto the price just now so they can "discount" it later.
Everything's worth what you'll pay for it though- still cheaper than a ROS9
£535 would make it about 20% more expensive than a Ragley and, as Northwind says, that's at the normal inflated RRP.
Doesn't matter what you think though does it because you've not ridden them... apparently

They weigh a ton though. 193g for theat BZA stem in 50mm. 127g for a cheaper Renthal Apex
£535 would make it about 20% more expensive than a Ragle
With a Chromag, you also get 20% more paint and the seat tube is actually the right size too!
😉
New Ragleys don't seem to want for paint. Are there seat-tube issues with 2016 models?

Ironically it took forever for the seatpost in my old Stylus to stop slipping as the clamping area was a bit oversized and the thick gas pipe tubing didn't like to flex.
Another heavy overpriced 4130 frame 😕
Podge i'm not trying to offend but youre basically reviewing it having never ridden one.
I've never had a punch in the balls but I know I don't want one.
😆 😆 ok no harm meant.
