Just swapped to a new rear mech and chain combo, bike is only 7-8 months old, shifting is fine but the chain skips in one cog on the rear about 3rd fron the top of the cassett under pedaling not on the work stand though, its a new chain sram and shimano shifters on a sram casset. bike has had a reasonably good life used 1-2 twice a week done a merida and afan twice always in Sh1tty condishions but I have looked after it, but the was only a little stretch in the old chain. Have put the old chain on (but not tested it yet 2 week old son has seen to that!!) is that the way to go

Any ideas help please?

Thanks

Wookster.

tight link? wind it backwards and see if you get a little "kick" on the chain. How are the cables?

Gotta be a worn cassette. Tight link would cause issues accross the cassette.

Put the old chain back on and run it into the ground...
