Good Evening All

Ive just installed my new shimano HG93 (9speed chain) and taken off the KMC chain.  I’ve used the old quick link / joining link but it seems very slack side to side movement. It has been on and off a few times to clean the old chain. Do I need a particular chain link for shimano chain ?

thanks

Tom

Did the new chain not come with  a connecting pin?

Have you bought a 10 speed chain by mistake?

Also KMC make some of Shimano's chains.

Any Shimano-compatible link, I use KMC.

If you want to reuse the link make sure that it's marked "R" reusable (where it's stamped CL566R) https://kmcchain.us/products/missing-link-9

Don't use an old link with a new chain, it'll have worn with the worn chain

Yea it came with a connecting pin but I like the quick links for the ease of use. No definitely says 9 speed on it. Maybe just need to try a new link as I’ve taken this one in bits loads to clean the chain.

I bought some at halfords but the link failed on my brompton in Central London, lucky escape.  Top tip, don't buy the clarks q link at halfords, I did check it was sealed properly but I assume the fold loosened it.
