I am looking to build up an new HT, I now have everything except the frame, wavering between -
Clockwork Evo
Orange P7
Stanton Slackline
Bird Zero (AM or TR)
It has to have 142x12 axle, threaded BB, and a headtube which will take a tapered fork (FWIW I have a ZS44/EC56 but can change that). The fork I have is 140mm and new, so I don't want change the travel. Any ideas ? (inc recommending your own, this is STW after all).
27.5, 27.5+ or 29? (Or a combo of 2?)
'Normal' 27.5 ......
I've got a Bird Zero AM frame for sale at the moment, in brilliant condition - barely ridden 🙂
It's a medium and a lovely green colour - transferrable warranty too.
There was a large grey Zero TR going for £200 in classifieds the other day too. I'd pick that, slack, low and long enough, almost xc bike light, comfortable by all accounts.
Stif Morf?
I did see Charlie TBM selling some Ritchey frames at reduced prices. Not sure on the axle size though
Cotic soul.
NS Eccentric? Ticks all your boxes, I'm building one (albeit slowly) myself, it's a lovely looking thing.
Bird would be my choice.
I think a crush over the clockwork if you want to go Orange? Thought the Crush would suit 140 forks better but I may be wrong (I know they have redesigned the clockwork but it used to be more XC and designed around a shorter fork).
DMR?

Niner ROS.9
Those P-650's are designed around 100mm travel I've just checked...so more xc. Lovely looking frame though
chromag stylus expnsive but well worth it
Edit: my Bird Zero is the TR, so takes a 130mm fork. And yep, it's very light and nimble. But slack and long and low too 🙂
OP: the only bike I'd add to that list is a Cotic Soul.
They're all pretty similar, although the Soul will be the lightest steel frame.
If I were to be building a 27.5 it would have to be a Stiff Morf, I think they look brilliant, reviews have really rated it! I wish they did it in a 29er!
Currently waiting on a 29er NS eccentric cromo frame to be delivered, should be here this week!
Bird or P7 for me.
Both out of budget for me when I recently buying a new hardtail, long term plan is to get one of the above frames to swap all the bits over too.

Basically this...
Hence I've gone custom... Based loosely around what you might expect a 29er Morf to be...
Thanks for the replies.
I can rule out the Soul, new ones are 148 'Boost', will not suit m wheels.
I like the look of the Morf, might do a bit more research there.
At the moment the Bird Zero AM is winning, should be OK with a 140mm fork ? (Rated for a 130mm ...)
Bird Zero AM is warrantied to a 150mm fork - mine has a 140mm Pike. It's great!
The Bird TR is the one rated to 130mm i believe.
Kinesis Maxlite?

Dammit looks like rear is boost , sorry.
Edit, not sure if this is any good. Had one, brilliant bike.

Anyone know where to get hold of the NS Eccentric Cromo frame?
Not found the 2017 anywhere (nor the 2016 in medium). That review really sold it to me but the availability has sent me looking at the Bird Zero AM which also looks very nice.
No to the DMR Trailstar due to additional weight, and no to the Stiff Morf due to cable routing beneath down tube.
I've just built up a Nukeproof Scout - thoroughly impressed for the price and ticks all your boxes.
