You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Finally got my frame after chasing Parcel Force all over town! I've built this with mostly my older parts that came off my Hightower frame.
It's an XL frame and it's bloody huge! Ignore the RC627 decals, they're being changed 🙂
Spec:
Fork - Rockshox Pike RC 150mm
Groupset - Sram X1 11 Speed (Raceface Aeffect crank)
Wheels - Santa Cruz Reserve 27
Tyres - Schwalbe Hans Dampf / Nobby Nic
Brakes - Hope Tech 3 E4 (200mm/180mm Rotors)
Reverb dropper with Bike Yoke cable remote
Saddle - Charge Knife Ti
Headset - Hope Pick n Mix
Going to ride it to work tomorrow and see how it feels. Just need to decide where to take it at the weekend then 🙂
Anyway, here's some pics of it in progress. Had a few silly mistakes (tried to fit a gear cable meant for a front mech, so ended up too short), but worked them out quickly!

Looks fun. Get it off road and enjoy!
Really nice. Colour is great.
Classy mate, love the under stated colour.
Can I ask how tall you are as you said the frame is an xl and the seat is nice and high too?
I was going to ride it to work today, but it rained and I'd have gotten soaked 🙁
Just deciding where to take it at the weekend now!
@Poopscoop, I'm 6'2" with around a 33" inseam. The dropper is 150mm, but I reckon I could get away with a 170mm.
I'm going to ride it with the fork at 150mm to see how it is (Pace ship their builds with 140mm). Then I'll decide if I want to convert the Pike to coil and decide on the travel.
Arghhhhh tight clearance on tyre to seat tube ouchy!
Although I am digging the new Pace offerings as a middle pathway into steel hts as oppossed to an overly expensive albeit best of the crop Curtis cycles .
To be honest @tdog, the pic makes it look closer than it is 🙂
It's also in the shortest setting in the sliding dropouts, I'll probably move them back and see how it feels.
Managed to get out (in the snow) with the new build today. First ride in and this is definitely a keeper! One of the best bikes I've tried so far.
I've moved the drop outs to the longest position to try it. It descents with masses of confidence on rocks, ice, mud etc. It feels effortless to catch the front wheel if it slides!
It's very calm and composed on climbs too. I feel like I'm sat right where I'm supposed to be with the right amount of rear-wheel grip and weighted front end. Even with the fork at 150mm, it doesn't feel compromised in the slightest.
It didn't suffer from the front wheel wandering or lifting on any steep climbs. Anyway, here's a few pics from around Hawkshead/Grizedale/Coniston 🙂

Wanna try one. Good to see Pace back making decent bikes.

Cheers Coomber, and thanks for the photo tips 😉
Sorted now, silly me!
Great looking bike.
Nice, new pace frames look mint
I'm pretty shocked at how "right" it feels. It picks up speed like nothing else! I thought it would be pretty draggy on road sections, but it even feels quick there too.

Here’s my recent Pace build.
RC127, in medium.
Sektor 140mm forks
Mavix Crossmax Elite wheels
Truvative Stylo cranks.
Other bits from other bikes or spare parts bin.
All riding very nicely, great size and geometry for me.
Things to do still:
Dropper post, naturally.
Some fatter tyres. The one fitted are great, but definately more XC than trail.
And, move with the times, and fit an 11 or 12 speed drive train.
Edit: Where’s the blinking photo?
Ohh that looks really nice seadog101. Once my missus sells her Trek Procaliber (or I sell my Hightower frame), that's what we're building up for her!
Shes's decided on the black frame with gold decals 🙂
It'll look even better with all the upgrades!
I've got a few planned as I go along (coil converting Pike, new bars/stem and maybe cranks).
I'm happy with the 1x11 on it at them moment, so I don't think I'll go Eagle any time soon.
Nice RC529!
I’d change the saddle, grips, pedals and chainring to black. 😊
Maybe a shorter stem to get the steering nice and fast.
Looks great though.
Oh yeah! the pedals 🙂
Grips and saddle are staying as they're pretty new! Pedals have been borrowed from the Astronut, so I'll need to get some soon. Might go for some more DMR V12, or maybe try something else?
They don't have to have 1 inch pins or anything, I found the V12s to be grippy enough.
I built up an ex demo Pace RC129 frame last week using bits from my old Codeine 29r (140 Pikes etc) and took it for its first outing yesterday. I really wasn't expecting much and in the "carpark test" it felt like a steamroller and i was wary that the 65 Deg head angle would mean it was a bit wandery and would understeer. But once on the trails it was truly stunning! It even left behind my mate on his spesh enduro and he's normally a bit quicker than me! Totally confidence inspiring, really aggressive and like sh!t off a shovel on singletrack with really sharp steering. It even climbed well!
Pretty much my experience Blackflag! I expected it to be sluggish on tarmac, but it really just surges forward!
Looking at RC529, sherpa and Solaris for next frame.
Price of rolling chassis spec on the pace is pretty good.
Any of you lads care to share an opinion on how the bike performs regarding all day mile munching XC and big up and down trail riding ?
Cheers.
I suppose it depends on what you're used to. I think I've got a good comparison with my Scott Spark RC.
I did a 16.5 mile loop around Grizedale, Coniston and Hawkshead in those photos in snowy/icy conditions. I didn't knacker me out and the bike felt very responsive (even on flatter stuff).
The Spark is lighter and faster rolling (plus a bit of comfort from the suspension on rough stuff), but I didn't find the RC529 a slog. To be honest, it really surprised me as I expected it to feel heavy and more of a tank.
There's a horrible climb just coming out of the back of Hawkshead and I think the RC529 was the best one I've taken up it. I've got mine set up with the dropouts at their longest and combined with the seat angle, it sits you in a perfect position for climbing.
My missus has a RC127+ on the way this week now 🙂
