My Motorola moto g 2nd gen's battery is on its way out. Can someone point me in the direction of a android suitable replacement?

It needs to be unlocked and under £100 (ish).

Ideally new too.

I know there is a huge choice out there now beyond Samsung and Sony etc and cos of that I'm lost!

I use the phone for calls, Internet's, occasional pics. Standard stuff really.

Any suggestions?

Jiayu S3+
Ulefone Paris
Ulefone BeTouch2 EDIT - thought this was cheaper. But spec looks excellent!
Nexus 5 from eBay/China - about £110.

What about a moto E ,as long as you don't need a flash.
The batter life on mine is fantastic.

I saw the vodaphone ones getting good press. Now I assume they are locked to vodaphone, but can they be unlocked?

but can they be unlocked?

You looking at the Ultra 6? Yes if so, plenty of unlock services on ebay. It's basically a rebranded ZTE phone, so it's a common phone.

EDIT, eg,

Partner has a Smart Ultra 6 unlocked and on EE.
Damn good phone for the money. Not able to compare it to a Swift but you couldn't be disappointed for the money, so long as you are ok with BIG phones.

I got my dad a nokia lumia 535 and he loves it. Big, bright screen, good battery life, can surf the web and check emails and he even has whatsapp now its a revelation for him!

Theyre £80 new i think but i got one for 50 off ebay

new moto e is better than old moto g.

Better battery and processor and 4g
but no flash and weakish camera, so it depends how crucial taking piccies is to you, against whether you use 4g.
But very cheaply available and probably better value than new moto g now.

Quick update on my latest order of a Jiayu S3 advanced from http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_272248.html

I ordered a black and a white one, the white one is still on back order so I will probably amend to a black one.

The black one arrived DHL today. No additional Duty or VAT.

Comes with android 5.1, very neat ROM build, all in English, nice and slick out of the box. 5", 3GB, of 4G loveliness. This one's destined for my bro to replace his crap Sony Z3 🙂

I have a Lumia 640 which i got for just over £100 sim free and unlocked in Carphonewhorehouse and if you don't have loads of apps it's superb!

It has all the usual like faceache, twitter and the like.

easily get 2 days out of the battery on normal use.

Any websites where you can click a few options to get phone recommendations? I'm due a new contract and the phone I have is 2 years old - nowt wrong with it other than vanity telling me I want a new phone. Don't know what is out there though - current phone is a Sony Xperia Z2 and I'd like everything the same or better but in a slightly smaller size. The Z5 Compact has a smaller battery and I'd seriously miss the 24 hours between charges that I get now.

For the money, a Jiayu s3 advanced, now it's running Android 5.1 out of the box (though not difficult to flash it from 4.4).

@Stoner how much did you pay in the end for your phone? I'm looking for a phone for my aunt in the UK . Thanks!

$165 + £20 duty.

Coincidentally I have a spare, unused S3+ here.
I ordered it for my bro whose Sony Z3 was frizted, but his insurance agreed to get him a new one so the S3 is spare.

It's a white one.

For £150 + p&p if it's of use to your aunt I can move it on?

Cheers Stoner might be a bit to soon for her to get one right this minute . Took her a while to get round to 'the interweb' but I'll keep it in mind
